What was your first solid/soft food you tried, when you started stage 3?

I had my two week follow up (3days early because Monday they’re closed and that’s when it would be exactly 2 weeks) and I have a lost 19lbs. I was told I can start stage 3 today but I’m starting tomorrow.

Also what are some tips you can give me? I know one thing at a time as well as a little at a time like 2oz.

tuna, cottage cheese, i tried a bit of stir fry chick, first time just eating the veggies and bit of noodle was fine, next time i ate a tiny bit of the chicken and threw it up. Don’t recommend chicken but stir fry veggies cooked soft was yummy.

Refried Beans, yoghurt, cottage cheese. Go really slow with the meats - like 1 ounce at a time. I tried cod - liked it, but ate a little too much and got sick. Cannot eat it now at all. Same with some other foods that just didn't go down well.

Believe it or not, the easiest meat to eat was calf liver. So smooth and soft - a real slider, and milder tasting than beef liver. Sprouts has it in the frozen meat freezer, in 4 ounce pre packaged, sealed portions. I break off half of that - so a 2 ounce portion. I coat it with just a dusting of gluten free flour and then pan sautee with some onions in a little olive oil until just tender.

Soft scrambled eggs with cottage cheese and cheddar with taco bell mild sauce. In retrospect I should have held off on the cheese cuz it caused me terrible issues afterward. :(

Woo hoo! A new milestone! My first soft foods day was Thursday. I had about 2oz of lowfat cottage cheese and it was divine lol. So weird that it felt like "enough" -- bc I love cottage cheese and used to just eat a big bowl of it. It's very exciting to realize that after just a few bites, I actually feel not just satiated, but not "yearning" for more, if that makes sense? It's a totally new feeling for me.

I'd recommend you set a timer 30 minutes after your last Fluid before you eat, then after eating set a timer for another 30 minutes before you have liquids again. Rinse and repeat.

Best of luck!!! :)

Hey Surgery date twin! I was allowed to start stage 3 as soon as I came home on Wed. I ended up waiting until thurs or Fri and I had mashed potatoes. Since then I have had oatmeal, refried Beans scrambled egg, black bean Soup take it nice and slow.

oh wow that is awesome! As hard as it is because I love to shop I have not bought anything lol I haven't even tried on my jeans I been living out of my leggings and workout pants but I'm a little afraid to try my jeans on because of were they sit will be on one of my incisions.

that is awesome how you were aloud to start solid/soft foods right out of the hospital. my surgeon had me on stage 1 Clear Liquids in hospital and started stage 2 liquids until my follow up and now on stage 3.

So far I've had an equal amount of egg whites to a full egg with a tiny bit of sugar free bbq which was enough for me, lunch I had 2 oz of homemade split pea Soup and for dinner I've had 2oz of cottage cheese on reduced fat ritz crackers. so far all has set well :)

I no longer had any jean shorts I could wear and a busy season for my daughters gymnastics season starts next week. I quit wearing leggings months ago as I was tired of trying to find shirts to cover my butt and stuff, so it was either find new tunics which really would be a waste of money for me IMO or a pair of shorts. So exciting getting them since I normally had a 22 or 24 depending on the brand and I bought a pair of 20's. My baby girl was giving me high 5's lol. I also cleaned out all my clothes that I haven't worn in over 3 months. I figured I hadn't worn them in that long and it would be long before they were too big so I'm making space now. What started it all? I couldn't see any loss at all visually, so I tried on a pair of pants that I were too small when they came in the mail. Now they fit WOOT!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
