I’m going to tell the doctor ASAP, but I’ve thrown up like five times this week and wretched a lot (I have my period). Have I done damage to my pouch? Freaking out!
Yes please call your doctor. My doctor prescribed nausea pills for me and they really helped me control the nausea.

I doubt throwing up will damage your pouch, but why are you throwing up? How far post-op are you? Is it nausea? food? Foamies?

I think most people throw up a lot after surgery and that doesn't seem to damage their pouches. I hope your doctor figures everything out!

Yeah I’m on them :/ did your doc say you could have done damage
No there was no damage to my pouch. And I'm almost 6 weeks out and food is going down well. I havent had any more throwing up spells.

I’m pretty sure it’s food! It can happen when I eat very slowly and with foods that I’ve had no probs with. However, it’s always after eating! I just don’t know what could be causing it!

Yeah! I called today. They told me they think my bites are too big and want me to use a baby spoon. If that doesn’t work I will go in!

Yeah, I have been told once I start food I have to have half a teaspoon and chew 20 times, then wait to a count of 20 then have the next half a teaspoon mouthful and so on because of vomiting and giving the pouch time to move out the first mouthful. I know we all get told slightly different things though. :) Hope it is an easy fix

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
