I haven’t been here for awhile. A couple of years after my surgery, I thought I was good and didn’t need any help from anyone anymore. Boy was I wrong! I lost 100 pounds. In the past 2 years 45 pounds has creeped back on. Now I’m back and ready to focus on losing (again). Any tips to reboot my system? Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there! Welcome back! Ive been trying to shift some regain lately too. Only thing working is back to basics. Protein first. Making sure i get at least 65 to 75g of protein. Trying to keep my carbs under 50. And not drinking or eating junk. My strategy has been filling up on protein and THEN having my snack if there is room after my meal. I do this at night since that's when my sweet took likes to take over. I find im less likely to binge on junk and ive been gradually reducing my junk intake. It's made me feel less inclined to pig out on it. And my cravings have gone down considerably.

Hello, I'm there right now. I had my RNY in '15. I lost faith and jumped off the wagon. Lost and gained, now excitedly losing. I NEVER thought I could do this all over but I am proof that Yes, You Can!!! I don't know exactly how much I've lost because my battery scale died during my "rebound." Ugh.

Anyway, it is entirely possible to be successful again! It takes head work first, then we get down to the food/Life. It helps to understand what carbs, sugar, LDL, HDL, Fiber, etc DO to and for your body. It was a big whoop in the arse to learn how we're putting our lives in danger. It eventually (I'm quite stubborn) made me change what I do and don't put in my body. Don't think I'm one of those people whose very, very strict, but I am way more mindful of my food now and that is what got me back on track. I read a specific Cardiologist 's book over and over and over till I finally let myself "get it and act on it." Then, a specific lifestyle ensued.

So basically, other than food advice (which does help) I won't give in this post, I say get your head in order first. Learn, and go from there. I'm really the last person I thought I'd ever say this....but it can be done, I'm living proof. I wasted 4 years! But I 'm back in the saddle again! YOU CAN DO IT!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
