Ok.... 10 days until my VSG and I am freaking out a little.
my dr office has me on a Protein Shake only diet for two weeks and I totally cheated and had fries and some of a pita today- I knew what I was doing but just did it anyway. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I was so excited when I got my surgery date that I actually did a modified version of this diet for two weeks before I had to( my office has different plans based on BMI so I followed the plan for the BMI above mine)- doing shakes during the day, low carb dinner and I did great- lost 10 lbs.

I haven’t lost anything this week

I don’t know why I cheated today- and now I am so scared that I won’t have the discipline after surgery.

This is such a big deal, it’s costing a lot of money and because its “elective” I just feel so much pressure that people will judge me if things go wrong... and of course even more if I mess up the weight loss.

this Surgery is something I have been weighing for almost 10 years and I know I will be so glad a year from now. I have been so excited but now I am a bundle of nerves.

Anyone else go through this?

I basically did the same. Had the mock first 3 weeks before surgery and did great. Started the actual diet 2 weeks before surgery and cheated several times.

I did make sure to be strict the last 4 days before surgery and my Dr said that my liver was great and that the surgery was easy peasy.

I did lose 24 lbs over the 3 weeks.

you really need to be committed to the eating plan - both before surgery and until you reach maintenance. Otherwise, you might not reach your goals. Forgive yourself for this, but get back on the program and stick to it...

One little slip-up isn't the end of the world, but you've got to be prepared for a lifetime of healthy eating and sticking to the program for at least four full weeks post-op.

You will find it much easier to stay on plan after your surgery so don't beat yourself up too much about it. Help is on the way! But after your surgery consider fear of failure your best friend not an enemy. Embrace that fear and never let go of it.

Yes you need to be very strict and follow drs orders from day 1 of surgery any cheating post op can have an impact

I think it's natural to test the boundaries but I can tell you that trying to eat something too soon post-op is a bad idea... and VERY painful.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate this forum - such a safe place to share and be honest even when it’s not easy.

Today was a new day, and I have been faithful to the plan. I’m still a little scared for sure and I am sure I’m the next week I will go through some more waves of anxiety.

I really believe that the post op period I will be terrified of pushing boundaries, thank goodness, and I want this!! I got a journal to write down all the reasons I’m doing this so I can look at it on the hard days.

OH!! And as a side note to today- I was offered a rotational position I applied for and got an email for an interview with another internal job I was interested in 30 min later!! Such good news!

lots of positive change in my future!!

So hoping recovery is quick so I can take advantage of one of these opportunities!!

I’m 9 days away from gastric & ive slipped up a few times on my pre-op diet. I was worried about it & went in to talk with my nutritionist. She reassured me I was fine. It really helped to curb my fears.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
