Do you see a therapist? Are uou on any medication? The struggle post op is real! I can't really offer any suggestions, but exercise and meds help me. Also losing weight makes me feel more upbeat and confident and gives me the drive to stick with it. Hang in there.

I just started going to a therapist . The mental struggle has been so hard. Many days filled with regret after the surgery. Trying to work through it all.

Were/are you taking an antidepressant? Might be lack of absorption?

Is it a general feeling of depression or something specific? Example: are you missing specific foods, are you having regrets about having surgery—why?, etc.

im asking because I’ve dealt with depression before in my life and can pinpoint the why for me—once I sought help with a therapist. Maybe some reflection can help you talk with your therapist more openly. Trust me when I tell you it took a bit before I could do that myself.

Be honest, be open and do what is best for you. Remember, you chose surgery for specific reasons too. Your health is important.

In my own case - Is that all THERE is? Feel like I'm getting nowhere, if I fall off the edge of the world? I won't even make the Evening News and this has been a SLOW NEWS DAY! Welcome to my Pity Party, may not have jackets but I do have Lovely Placemats in place.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
