July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op

Recommended Posts

Got admitted to hospital tonight. They are running CT scans tomorrow. I just finally got off last 'water weight gain' from last week's IV treatments. I just really need to STAY off the scale when this happens
Oh no!! I hope it all goes well KarenLR75!!! Hopefully after testing, you will start to be in the up and up!!! Take care [emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji169]

I’m 3 weeks post op. Feeling good overall but weak at times. I’ve only lost 19 pounds till now. I lost most of it in the first 2 weeks but seems to have become stationary now. I wonder why. Supposed to be starting with puréed foods now. Will the weight still come off???

I'm 9 days post-op bypass. Yesterday I had my 1 week appt and I'm down 23 lbs I haven't been this weight in about 10 years. I'm already very excited that I went through with it!
I'm mostly meeting liquid and protien goals, walking my 10k steps/ day, and dr cleared me to ride my beach cruiser on flat trails.

Good luck! I’ve been in the hospital three times post surgery and have had the CT scan. Hopefully everything is okay!

What sorts of things cause you to be re-admitted?

I'm 17 days post-op today, and I'm feeling fairly "normal", all things considered. Wounds have mostly healed up. Not feeling gas when I eat like I was. I was able to eat avocado and spicy tuna tartare for lunch and dinner yesterday with no ill effects. Apart from getting full very fast (and struggling to drink enough—I never drank much Water to start with) I am not experiencing any real issues.

Are the issues you've had things that can just spring up on you? Or have you been struggling since surgery? Anything we should look out for as we go? I hear gallbladders can be dicey.

Karen I hope you're feeling better soon and your CT scans are good!

I did hear that not getting the Water (to stay hydrated) and working out (which puts off more of your water) will cause stall (my NUT). I also am there (and gained a lb at my 1st surgery post-op).. I am going to keep going! You too!
Yes! The bariatric nurse at the hospital called to check on me today. She said I need to work harder to get my water in and to increase my Protein intake and that should help me start losing again. Good luck to you as well!!

Hi!

The first visit was because I had pain in my leg and they wanted to rule out a clot. I ended up being dehydrated and having low blood sugar.

The second time I had an allergic reaction to something I wasn’t allergic to presurgeey. Epipen and ambulance ride!

The third time was because they were ruling out gallbladder, ulcers, swallow issues. I’d been having severe stomach pains!

Hope this helps

My busy schedule meant some modifications. I had to go for a recruitment dinner with faculty members and I might have started solids sooner (GULITY!!). I also had a craving for flan made by a dear friend- she thought I was sick- and I might have eaten a bit. It took me three weeks to meet my Water goal (I just cant drink the zero calorie drinks, I really throw up- finally drinking diet snapple and coconut water- its calories, but i am still under 600- and losing everyday), I also couldn't refuse chocolate cake that my best friend made for my birthday three weeks after my surgery- plz don't judge me

You're not alone. Many people stray from plan a little (but you probably will not see it written about for fear of being berated)

I also started some solids sooner than recommended. I started regular Beans in the pureed stage, I had a bite of fried dough about 1.5 weeks after surgery, a bite of cake for a going away party, etc.

I did keep up on Protein, only breaking from plan for worthy cause but returning immediately and watching diligently at my hydration levels.

Don't worry about whose looking and judging (except your surgeon 😂) stay vigilant in your journey and enjoy your success.

Getting new tires put on our car and walked to the McDonald's close to the car shop so the kids could play and eat. Everyone is eating, but me. Definitely takes some willpower. I'm hungry too! [emoji37] 1566059151828~2.jpeg

I haven't been to a McD for a long time. I bought icecream for my kids once upon a time 😂

What options do they have? Baked potatoes, chili, burger w/just cheese, Etc?

No bake potatoes, no chili... I'm sure i could of got a burger and take the Buns off, but I don't know how they doctor up their meat. So I just decided not to get anything.

Normally I would eat before we left with some time to see if it messes up my stomach to where i gotta run to the bathroom right away. I hate it. I can't eat while out I feel like I have IBS or something. Even Protein Bars or Protein does it to me. I'm gonna talk to my doctor about it.

OMG I had to share today!! I’m on a plane for the first time post-op (29 days) and I don’t have to ask for a belt-extender (although JetBlue has larger seats than most..I feel actually comfortable! After a few days of feeling down and out about my weight stall, I feel awesome this am!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
