22 days post op - feel like I messed up somehow

Recommended Posts

So I’m 22 days post op. I had the gastric sleeve done on June 19,2019. My starting weight was 255 and I’m down to 229 but of course I’m experiencing a stall. I have been gradually adding soft foods after the 2 weeks. So like mashed potatoes boiled eggs really tender chicken soft veggies soft salmon. Everything has been soft and I have been making sure to chew. I see that some people don’t get hungry but I’m starting to. Some days I have restrictions other days I don’t. I feel like I did something wrong maybe stretched my stomach. I don’t know if that is even possible so early in. Really just wonder if anyone has any answers or had felt this ?

Are you measuring the amounts of the soft foods and sticking to your doctor's portion sizes? If so, there's no problem. Some people just have an easier time than others and you may be one of them.

Also, before deciding you're hungry, try to sort out head-hunger. The way to tell is to think about what you'd like to eat. If you feel hungry and would be happy to eat some egg or soft fish then it's probably true hunger. If you're far more picky about what you want to eat then it's probably head hunger and you should try to distract yourself. Most cravings cease within 20 minutes or so if you don't give in.

Good luck on your journey!

It could also be acid or thirst. I got hunger confused with these two things early on, so I would take an antacid and or drink something before running to the food. Good luck to you

Post-op diets are different. If mashed potatoes are on the OP's list of ok-foods, they're on the list of the ok-foods no matter what other users might be thinking about this.

Is it really not possible to mention carbohydrate rich foods without the bariatric food police blowing the whistle within minutes?!

It's different feeling of restriction on different days, even different times of day. It also depends heavily on the kind of foods you're eating. Did you get a guideline of how many grams/cups of food you should be eating right now at mealtime?

I don't believe that you've stretched your sleeve that early out. This is a process that takes time (there are different opinions on how and how much or even if one can "stretch the sleeve" anyway in the world of surgery).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
