GASTRIC BYPASS REVISE FROM GASTRIC SLEEVE

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me your experiences revising from the sleeve to the bypass? I'm hoping it will relieve my acid reflux, but I've heard it doesn't work.

from what I've heard/read (from hanging out on various bariatric boards for the last five or so years), it does help most people. Not all - but most.

I’m nearly 4 weeks out and it stopped my GERD.

I just had a bypass as a revision from a sleeve. It was done about 6 weeks ago, and the sleeve about 10 years ago.

I had terrible reflux basically since the sleeve was done, as well as a hiatus hernia.

I have had zero reflux since the bypass was done! It definitely worked for me.

I sure hope it helps! Scheduled for July 17 and I'm praying for some relief!
My surgeon's and gastrointestinal doctor said that it's absolutely going to work. I had no doubt about it until I saw this message.
My reflux is severe and I am having RNY revision surgery on July 16th.

I think I have a vague understanding of why it works from how my doctor explained it to me. The part of the digestive system that creates the reflux is disconnected from the oesophagus and delivers the bile further down the system, meaning it can’t get back up and cause damage.

Please excuse the probably very bad explanation, but that was my (non-medical) understanding of it.

I also have a hiatal hernia from the sleeve I'm waiting for my dr to get me approved so I'm just praying it's done soon the hernia is small but painful.

And it will be a joy not to reflux, not to have that discomfort or the hiatal pain. And I am praying 🙏for a very smooth healing and an enhanced future for YOU!

My severe reflux disease went from me taking 2 pills a day, to now almost 3yrs later taking a total of 10 pills a day, zofran for nausea and a GI cocktail 3 times a day after the sleeve surgery.
So am going to be having revision surgery from the sleeve to RNY to hopefully get rid of the reflux.
I had hernia repair when I had sleeve surgery and apparently it's reopened as well.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
