Hi. Tomorrow is my first follow up appointment. I will be five days post op tomorrow. My goal is to lose 60 pounds. I’ve had some issues with extreme dumping so I haven’t been able to drink much as it goes right through me. I’m so worried I’m not going to lose any weight. Has anyone else experienced this? How did you cope? PS I got the sleeve. Thank you in advance.

Your worries and fears are all normal, I have has extreme dumping in my first month, and every once in a while now, (3 months post op) I remember the day I had an actual mostly solid BM! About 3-4 weeks post op? My family and I actually celebrated even though people talk about poop like it’s TMI! I tried to keep taking sips of Water every 10 mins, and all I could stomach was chicken broth for the first 10 days. Jello and popsicles (sugar free) helped a lot. Also, about 2 weeks after my surgery I began to have a fever every day from about 2 pm to 8pm sometimes longer. I had one infected site (robotics) and when I did get the antibiotics, they stopped all digestion. But I made it through. You may have some worries and fears, but that’s normal. And as long as you just do your best to follow the diet guidelines, you WILL lose weight!

Cheers!

Thank you for your response. It’s calmed me down. I hope your feeling better. This dumping syndrome is just awful.

My doctor calmed me down. He is going to do some labs and if all is negative I can take Imodium. And I’m five days out and 9 pounds down.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
