Does anyone else have a problem with dry mouth at night? I'm two weeks out from surgery and am having a terrible time with it. I'm not getting enough Water in due to nausea but on the days I have, I still have struggled with the problem. Any tips? I've ordered Xylitol because I am worried about my teeth decaying.

I am 8 months out and I still have this problem. Sometimes I feel like my tongue is stuck to the top of my mouth. I get plenty of Water, don't know why it happens.

If you find an answer , please post it. You have a 9 month RNY cousin in Ohio, even take a bottle of Water to the bedroom. Have to pry my tongue off the roof of my mouth to take AM pills.💦👅😼

Oh my gosh! I’m a week and a half post op and I have the same thing! It’s only when I wake up. I pretty much always get in all my Water but still have it when I wake up. And it takes more than a few sips to get under control. I love this website haha I love knowing I’m not the only one!

Now that is takes Conscious Effort to turn over in bed, if I try in my sleep, the hip pain wakes ME up, I must be a Mouth Breather, because every Morning it is linked with the Kalahari Desert. That, in itself is BAD but I hate the dried mucus I cough up after it is moistened. But at least I am still alive if I am still complaining, beats Death all hollow! I just wish I could take big enough sips that they satisfied my thirst. Still feel like too little to make a difference!

I've been using Xylimelts every night, and it seems to be helping.

I wake up with dry mouth around 2am and pop one in my mouth, against my gums, which induces salivation. Not a lot, but enough to supposedly reduce the risk of tooth decay. The Xylimelt tablets last for about four hours.

So I had this problem and my dr said it's because of some of the meds I was on. I keep biotene on hand too because of it.

I'm 3 months out and it's terrible and appears to be a common side effect although no surgeons seem to adddress it. When I mentioned it, the PA just lectured me on gettting enough water(even though I drink 100+ ounces). Thanks captain obvious!

My dentist is however quite concerned. Dry mouth causes tooth decay. Dont skip your cleanings! He did give me a prescription fluoride toothpaste.

I tried the Biotin spray and xylimelts but no relief):

The one thing that has lessened my dry mouth is propping my pillows so that my head and chest are higher than the rest of my body. For some reason, the dry mouth is less. But still not resolved -- I awaken in the middle of the night almost every night and have to sip Water.

I also keep a bottle of Water beside my bed to sip on at night. Then I get frustrated because I have to wake up a few hours late to go to the bathroom. 😂

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
