Severe incision pain at largest site

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 05/24. I have been suffering from severe pain at my largest incision where my excess stomach was removed. Like 10/10 pain with basically any movement. I saw my surgeon who states there is a dissolvable suture in that muscle and once it dissolves in about another week, the pain should improve. Has anyone else experienced this? He put me on a muscle relaxer and a very strong narcotic today. Feeling quite discouraged. Everything else post-op has been fine (drinking/eating/my other surgical sites). TIA.

I had one very painful site also. I was told it’s the area they took my stomach out. Hang in there, it gets better

Nerves need to knit back together, and they severed the omentum from the fundus...this was major surgery and there will be some pain and healing.

Hang in there, it improves quickly after week 4....

My surgery was 5/23 and that large incision is the only thing left that hurts in the slightest. Zero problems overall. But I'd describe the pain level as mildly annoying, not a 10. Maybe a 3? And my pain was AWFUL the first 24 hours - 48 hours but faded off.

My surgeon forewarned me that the incision site at the muscle may be painful, but it never was. Sorry you're going through this. Hang in there, it'll heal with time.

Hang in there, it will get better. Try not to lift anything heavy or over do it.

My surgeon injected some great nerve blocker in that area that kept my stomach numb for well over a week so there was no pain at all. I hope you feel better quickly because a 10 is horrible pain :(

And my surgeon did the same thing, I never encountered the pain many others complain of.

Same happened to me but I'd rate my pain at a 7/10 (I've been at a 10/10, my personal worst, on the pain scale and needed to be hospitalized so...) Maybe your perception of the pain is off a little but if you are truly at a 10/10 I'd recommend going to the hospital because it may be an emergent situation.

Good luck 💙

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
