Today is the most tempting day of the year

Recommended Posts

I'm just over a week out of surgery.

I work in an office building of about 1000 people administering health benefits.

It is literally the battle of food cultures everywhere in this building.

It's Cinco de mayo and also Asian Heritage day.

Everywhere you turn there's free tacos (good ones, I'm in central CA) ceviche, elotes, rice and Beans. There's a massive BBQ cooking asada.

Then there is every Asian food known to man.

Two weeks ago I could have done some serious damage to these endless buffets.

But I've got my beef broth to keep me company.

My surgery was two weeks before Christmas, a month before my birthday, and 6 weeks before Valentine's Day. I passed up all the treats and stuck to my plan. Darn it! Hahaha

Looks like you had a smooth recovery by getting back to work so soon! Dr. Boone is amazing 😊 Congratulations and stay strong during all those office potlucks that are sure to be in your future.

Oh I know the feeling; next week is nurse's week and they like to give us hamburgers, hot dogs, and ice cream.

What I've found that helps is bringing my own take on the dish. This was a creative process during the pureed stage, but I digress. I already have 97% lean ground beef I plan on making into a lettuce burger and while I won't have ice cream, I do have a square of Sugar Free Chocolate I'm saving. It sounds weird, but it's honestly plenty now and I dont feel like I'm missing out.

a thought for YOu
Which is more important- that Junk food you have been craving for an hour?
Or that body you have been craving all your life?
The decision is YOURS!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
