Started soft solids today, 10 days post-op (2 days early).

  • 1 egg + 1/4 cup egg beater + a dollop of plain greek yogurt to smooth it out, scrambled, + reduced sugar ketchup
    • Went down fine. I just had to eat slowly. Took about 25 minutes to eat.
  • Protein Shake
  • Ricotta bake (I changed the recipe that's been floating around by doing half cottage cheese, adding spinach, and adding some parmesan)
    • Filled an 8oz ramekin with the ingredients, which I knew would probably be too big for a meal. I was right. I finished about half of it over 25 minutes and felt uncomfortable and had a little bit of pain. My stomach "sleeve" did not feel physically full. I just felt it in my lower esophagus... which I guess is my stomach now. I don't know, I guess I don't know what full feels like anymore. I finished the rest after waiting 15 minutes, and the second half took about 20 minutes.

I'm very happy to be eating normalish food again, but I may have overdone it with the portion for dinner and introducing too much on my first soft solids day.

I'm with you Sean! It's tricky trying to figure out the source of discomfort and self correct. I didn't have any problems with Refried Beans and cottage cheese yesterday but today was different. Took about an hour and the discomfort was real!!! I also had problems with microwaved eggs yesterday and could only eat the yolks of a soft boiled egg.
Only things that go down consistently has been yoghurt and baked grouper fish so I may stick to that for now and retry others in a few days.

I'm getting at least 48 oz Water in and Protein has averaged 50g in past 2 days.
We'll continue to see...

Your surgery was 4 days after mine, so it's great your program says you can already do soft solids now.

I'm about to eat breakfast:

1 poached egg, 4 thin slices of avocado, 3oz of crumbled turkey sausage cooked in chicken broth. I hope it doesn't hurt!

My goodness I’m going to have to take a break from reading this thread! I’m only 4 days post op and people eating at home doesn’t bother me but reading about food you can actually chew is hard lol. I can’t wait to be off stage 2 liquid/semi liquid diet. And even then I won’t won’t be able to have what I want (green apple) lol! Glad to read everyone is doing good !

Don't worry Bianca, just reframe it into the Ketosis you are going through and the massive weight loss rewards!!!![emoji169][emoji169][emoji169]

Oh, I’m kind of jealous. I had surgery on the same day, but still on the full liquida diet until the 26th. I can’t wait to get to the soft solids stage.

Enjoy

Welcome and CONGRATS! How are feeling? Any tips you like to share? Tomorrow starts my Clear Liquids and Tuesday is my BIG day!!! So excited!

Thank you so much! I'm feeling very good, considering I had surgery Monday, I'm cautiously optimistic that my healing is now going to be mostly up-up-up! My only "bad" time really was caffeine withdrawal (severe headaches for a day) which was totally my fault bc I just love my coffee and it was the one thing I didn't "wean." But it passed and whew thank God lol.

And WOW you are super-close to surgery, hurray!! It'll be over and done before you know it, so excited for you! 🙌

I do have tips already, lol - I have family and close friends who've successfully gone through WLS and also have researched it forever - soooo I made some pre-op purchases that I'm very happy with/have been super helpful.

Attached is a picture of LittleSprout baby food containers. Waaay back when my 1st child was a baby (22 years ago, Lord have mercy lol) - I was one of those "eager beaver" moms and I made most of his baby food from scratch (before I get too proud of that, I did not manage that enthusiasm for babies 2 and 3 ha ha). Anyway, prepping for this surgery I realized how much in common the food prep and portions would be to back in the baby days - and it all came back to me.

So I ordered the baby food containers off of Amazon - which are SO HELPFUL. Lots of sizes, but I started with 2 oz - they are microwavable, dishwasher and freezer safe, woo hoo! Also I got some silver-sterling toddler sized flatware (a 2-set of spoon, fork, serrated knife - adorable really) that wasn't expensive and doesn't look like "baby gear," and a separate set of measuring spoons and cups just for myself. I haven't used the flatware yet, but it looks nice. I cleared out a portion of our pantry for "my stuff" 😎

So anyway, while of course it is not at all necessary to purchase gadgets and tools and such to be successful - I found it relaxing and reassuring to have just a few things special, just for me - for my journey. And these LittleSprout things are my new best friend lol. Cheaper than the top brands but just as good, so far. :91_thumbsup:

SO excited for you that your big day is almost here! Just think, by Christmas we'll be sharing "WHOA time has flown, look at how amazing we are" posts and pics! 😆

So my surgery anniversary date is on the 24th of this month, but I had my 1-year follow up early with my surgeon this morning (I have another 1-year followup at the hospital on Monday to get my bloodwork and labs done).
Anyhoo...my surgeon was very pleased with my results (and so where the office staff apparently, because 3 of the front desk ladies came by my exam room to give me props/high fives/generally gawk at me).
But get this: he asked if I would be willing to come in for a future photoshoot so that I could be on a poster! And I was all, ummmm....no thanks, LOL.

Today was a really tough day and I turned to food (and a watered down glass of wine). The interesting part was that I felt REALLY full after eating half my go to cheat snack, tortilla chips with cheese. So the GBP is doing its job!

The only way I can tell that I'm losing weight is from the scale and my clothes "getting bigger".
