Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

what "little" things are you looking forward to post-surgery?

Recommended Posts

What are the "little," somewhat trivial, things that you look forward to once thinner?

-Being able to lean in to my washing machine and reach clothes straight on versus having to have my side against it to reach to the bottom or use a steps tool.

-Being able to lean over the bathroom counter to get a drink of Water to swish wash my mouth out post-brushing/mouthwash (i'm too cheap to use cups LOL).

-Tucking my legs in better when at the movies/sporting events where people can pass by easier.

Being able to walk with out losing my breath. Being able to paint my toe nails. Being able to sit comfortably in a booth. To be able to go on amusement park rides without being asked to get off because of being too big.

Being able to buy clothes from a decent store good brands not just big and tall..

Being able to walk around for hours to keep up with my family.

Being able to fit on rides better.

Not dealing with sweat between rolls (tmi)

Not being looked at everytime I go out to eat.

Being able to run for more than 30 seconds.

Well be nice to have some female attention for once!

Fit people get treated better in every aspect of life especially when shopping!

Being able to fit into my sports car better :)

Being able to go hiking it's been about 6 years..

Being able to save money on food and being a cheap drunk if I ever do drink.

My biggest one is hopefully not to be hungry constantly every day, eating to live not living just to eat!

More energy....this is my #1 goal.

Going to sporting events and not worrying if I fit in the stadium seats.

Being able to walk more than a few yards without huffing and puffing.

Being able to clothes shop in so many more stores...maybe I can finally buy something from Victoria's Secret/Pink for ME and not my daughters.

Being able to wear boots without worrying about how high the will come on my calf.

Fitting in a ski boot. Finally buying and wearing a pair of knee high boots. Bicycling again. Not feeling like a t-rex trying to reach things on the counter because my arms are further back because of my belly. Normal things. lol.

not having that waddle walk (you know what I'm talking about)...

getting my jeans out of the dryer and not having to stretch them out all over again to make them comfortable...

One of my biggest victories was sitting at a movie or sporting event and only sitting in my seat...not having my butt spill over into the seats next to me

I'm looking forward to

  • more shopping opportunities (only two decent plus size stores here)
  • being able to leave diabetes/high blood pressure/high cholesterol behind
  • saving $$ on prescriptions/food/plus size clothes
  • not getting winded bending over to tie my shoes
  • being able to keep up with my husband and kids
  • being able to attend events like fan expo/comic con and not be in agony after a short time
  • being able to order my cute geeky t-shirts in women's cuts, rather than the boxy men's cuts
  • not worrying regularly about dying before my children get into middle school

This would be a HUGE thing for me too. Not having the seat belt clicky thing digging into my hip.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
