Weight gain during 6 month requirement

Recommended Posts

Hello all.... I have my last appointment (friday) before my paperwork gets submitted for approval. I had a recent doctors appointment and I could not believe the scale. I gained 10 pounds since my last month bariatric weigh in. I believe the weight gain came from self sabotage knowing that my last appointment was coming up. I found it very hard to stay on track. My weight has fluctuated during this whole 6 month process but the 10 pound weight gain would put me right at what I started at 6 months ago. Im Thinking about cancelling my appointment and giving myself a week or two to really push myself and see how much weight I can loose before I do my last weigh in for my 6 month requirement. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? FYI my insurance doesn't say anything about weight gain, but the doctor suggested that I be under my starting weight for insurance purposes and showing active participation in the program. I'm very upset with myself to get to this point and now this.

Thanks

I plateaued towards the end of my 6 months. It's not that unusual. If we could maintain a diet long term, we wouldn't need surgery.

I'm not sure what advice to give about postponing your appt. If your insurance doesn't have any stipulations about your weight during the diet, it should be ok. I'd keep the appt and if it's bad, then just ask them for another week to get it back on track before sending in the notes from that visit.

Keep your appointment. If you miss some appointments the clock starts over again. Your doc/RD need to know of your struggle.

If I had canceled an appt it would have been a my least a month before they could have gotten be back in. Don’t just assume they will be able to see you a week after. Stop the self sabotage and start following your plan. This is a life style change. Time to change

Hello ... my thoughts exactly... surgery is my last resort... after failing to loose weight and keep it off for most of my adult life.. hopefully my appointment goes well *fingers crossed*

Hello... thanks for the advice... this would have been my first missed appointment out of the entire 6 months I guess that's why I am upset because I had 6 months and now a 10 pound weight gain at the end, nonetheless I will go to my appointment.

Frankly? It doesn't matter. If you miss an appointment, most insurance companies just don't care.

Suck it up buttercup. Quit the self-sabotage and finish the pre-op race. We all have to take our lumps when we screw up. Call your RD or surgeon's office and tell them what's happened. See what she says. She'll tell you to come in. Take your next best bite. Start now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
