Need encouragement from slow losers

Today marks 3 weeks post bypass for me, and although I'm not in a stall per se, I am losing very very slowly. I'm 57 and post menopausal so that may have something to do with it. I'm eating approx 55-90 gm Protein a day and still in purees. I need assurance that if I keep working my plan I will eventually lose weight. Any successful slow losers out there?

I had surgery when I was 55. My weight loss has felt incredibly slow in comparison to others. :( So don't compare. LOL. Cuz it's a major buzzkill. I have had to apply significant effort and focus to losing and had many, many, many stalls!!! But look at where I am now! In a little over a year since surgery, I'm closing in on Goal #3 of 130lbs. So the slow and steady race CAN still be won.

But, use this time very wisely. If you have crappy habits and a poor diet filled with SAD (standard american diet) but are eating it in small quantities, stop that behavior now! Cuz I swear, the honeymoon period is for WORK, not being indulgent. There is time enough in maintenance for indulgence. If you have high glycemic carbs in your diet, minimize or eliminate them.

Focus on your Protein. Keep carbs mostly bites of veg (when you can) and small (very small) amounts of healthy fats. Keep your calories low low low for losing. I promise you won't get stuck there.

Hang in there cuz you are in the 3 week stall area. Don't despair, you will lose.

I'm 54 and just had surgery 4 months ago and I'm in my second stall already and have only lost 35 pounds so far post -op, but I have faith that it will continue if I just keep doing what I'm doing.

Thanks, Fluffy and GradyCat! I needed reassurance that it is possible! I'm still on shakes, 2 ounces of ricotta, or 2 ounces of non fat Greek yogurt. Nothin' carby or crappy in my diet, and I plan to keep it that way!! Trying pureed boiled egg for lunch today.

Yay! Soft boiled egg wiht a bit of butter (tiny tiny bit) is the bomb.com. Chew to a pulp. Goes easier than pureed egg. :)

I'm 57 and had my surgery back in December, I am also a "slow" loser but every little bit counts. I just keep reminding myself to stick to the plan and the scale does keep moving in the right direction even if it tortures me at times. And this slow losing is better than not losing or going the other way.

PS. When I'm feeling frustrated with the scale, I try the measuring tape and am excited that I've lost more than 7 inches off of my waist - I haven't measured anything else - but that helps me keep going.

I am losing fairly slow as well. I just try to remind myself the doctor said I am still right where I should be, and focus on the non scale victories. The last time I went in for a visit, I found out I have lost 10 inches around my waist since surgery! I know it is hard, but just try to embrace the little things. Every little bit counts. <3

Slow loser here. It’s very hard to have faith and believe it’s possible to hit goal weight. Im just taking it day by day and trying to maximize the honeymoon period.

Betcha there are more slow losers than you think. You just don't hear of us among the I came home from the hospital, Un -water- logged, and losing 10 pounds a day!" They get all the press, not the pokey losers the rest of us are! And just because they do this well, it doesn't mean everything else is going perfect. Just keep on trying and know it is for your betterment you are doing this!

I lost 45 before surgery, in 5 months, and now I am almost 4 months post surgery and I have lost 45. This last month I have lost 4 pounds. I am only eating between 500 and 800 calories a day. I was losing more when I was eating more. What is going on??

I’m 58 and a slow loser too. I’m about 8 months post op and I still get frustrated although I know firsthand it eventually comes off. I never had big weight drops and I have stalls all the time. I eat between 600-750 calories a day. I reduced my calories by 100 the past month. I’m still a slow loser.

I lost 3-4 lbs a few weeks ago and even though I’ve increased my exercise I’m still at the same weight. It will drop, I just never know when. You will get there you just have to be prepared to be patient.

Hello I had my surgery on Feb. 11, 2019. I have lost 41lbs. I also take a couple of medication that cause weight gain. Mine is coming off slowly, but I am glad I am losing. Hang in there!

I've only lost 6 pounds in the last 4 weeks. This is so difficult for me to comprehend. When I had my sleeve (5 yrs ago) I was dropping weight like crazy. I understand the body needs time to recover from surgery and "figure out" whats happening. But like so many have said here...its almost impossible to wrap my head around how eating under 800 calories per day can not result in the scale moving lower faster than it is for so many of us. Dare I say it...I'm almost beginning to think...why did I do this? Surgery was very difficult on me and took me a solid 5 weeks to recover from. OK rant over. :)

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
