20-30 oz Water with mio.

Lunch: Protein Shake

20-30 oz Water with mio

Supper: Unjury Chicken Soup Protein Powder mixed in hot water.

20-30 oz water with mio.

If I get cravings at night, I have sf Jello or sf popsicles. Or sometimes beef or chicken bullion broth.

My biggest issue is trying to remember to drink water in between, but doing my best. Down 8 lbs since 5/15.

Man, that Chicken Protein Soup sounds like a steak dinner right now.

Especially when you have been on nothing but Protein Shakes all week.🙄

It is pretty good. They also have a Santa Fe Chili one but I don’t care for it.

Happy Friday Eve Everyone,

Day 4 of the liquid Diet

I made it through another day of Protein Shakes and water😞

I would love to get a hold of some chicken or beef broth....Wait I wouldn't turn down veggie broth either..............

But I can't have that until Sunday (Clear Diet day)... I've been checking out a few websites like Amazon and here on Bariatric Pal, for food items geared for special folks like us. I will probably make a purchase of some of the Soup items, so I can have some variety after the next few weeks.

I have noticed that my sandals are a bit loose from last year. I guess with will power and determination, the whole WLS thing will come together. And then I can submit my before and after pictures like everyone else.

Anywho............Keep the faith everyone.....We CAN and WILL do this JuneBunch

btw, I got on the scale today and I am finally at (drumroll.........) 219😲

Alright, I know it may not in Onederland, but I will take it. Even though the doctor's scales have a 5-10 pound variance, I will take the 219. Ain't seen 219 since 2008. ☺️

Come on June 3rd.

My liquid diet is:
Morning: Protein shake
Snack: sf Jello or sf pudding
Lunch: protein shake
Snack: broth or healthy low fat cream soup
Dinner: Protein Shake
Snack: sf popsicle

We are also allowed to have diet soda, Water with crystal light/mio, and vegetable juice.< br> What kinds of Vitamins did yall have to get? I havent found out what kind I should get yet.

I went with Bariatric Choice. Doing the once daily capsule pre-op and then switching to the chewable ones after. Decent coupons and a discount on buying a 90 day supply.

For pre-op, the only Vitamins I need to be taking are a Multivitamin and B-Complex. Post-op, I'll eventually be adding in calcium citrate, D3 (which I'm already taking), sublingual B-12, and Ferrous Gluconate or Fumarate. There are a few other things I'll need to take post-op, but these are the vitamins I'll need for the rest of my life.

Come on June 3rd.

I'm definitely feeling your pain! I haven't had anything but Protein Shakes (with almond milk or similar), broth, and flavored waters since Friday night, with the exception of a tiny bit of cheese on Monday before my formal liquid diet started 😕 I started a couple of days early because some well-meaning friends kept wanting to go out for "one last meal" with me... Nope! I've been somewhat tired/fatigued, and I've been a bit nauseous... not to mention hungry. But... this is the start of my second chance. I got this!

And we've all got this, my June lovelies! 😄

Sipping a cup of fat free chicken broth this morning. My 9 year old was curious so I told him it was like chicken noodle Soup with no noodles or chicken.
Pretty much! What does your 9 year old think of all this? I have a 9 year old daughter. She's super supportive of the increased fitness. (She's very sporty.) But she doesn't like my hospital stay.

He has high functioning autism and anxiety. He goes from being excited one minute because he would like me to be in better shape so we can do more outside activities to being worried about the hospital stay. My mom is 3 months post OP for VSG so I keep reminding him that grandma is fine and that he's seen her since her surgery. I think the reminders about my mom do help him. My bariatric clinic has YouTube videos of the surgeons explaining the procedures which has helped him too.

Having Miso Soup broth for dinner. My husband and the kids are having teriyaki chicken takeout. I do worry about sodium with broth though. I don't like the beef broth much but chicken and miso have been my go-tos this week.

That's awesome that you and your mom are doing this together. That's great!

Mind sharing the video Url? If it was good for him, I may show it to her too. She also is a high anxiety kid. Thanks!

My mom was my inspiration to start the process of seeking surgery. I knew from my coworkers our plan at work had started covering surgery but seeing her starting the process is really what motivated me.

This particular one is my surgeon but the other surgeons at the hospital have videos too. There a lot of videos of surgeons at various hospitals so yours may have one too

Reading everyone's journey as been super encouraging!

Still waiting for final confirmation of my surgery date, but the pre-lim is June 26th. Excited and of course nervous all at the same time.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
