How is my wonderful family doing?! Big shout out to our sister ARMomma. She had her surgery last Monday. How is everyone feeling? I won't lie, cravings are horrible sometimes but I've stayed strong. I feel so hungry but can barely eat anything. I've been living off of Protein Shakes still. Ugh.

I can second the feeling hungry but not eating much... and when I do eat too much, I know it right away. At this point I'm on soft foods, and I'm honestly able to eat most anything at this point... just much less of it. I still have the worry that I'm somehow going to stretch out my pouch too quickly or too much, but I would guess that's a common fear/worry!

I'm so glad to hear you're doing well though lovely, hang in there!

Finally under 250! It's been slower than some people but it's happening. I have a suspected ulcer. My bariatric clinic wants me to be sedated for a scope which I don't have anyone to drive me to the hospital for right now. I am taking medication and there has been an improvement.

I've slowed down on purees as well but i'm not getting nearly enough Protein so I contribute it to that.

Hello all, been a couple months since my last post. Down another 10 or so lbs since then. I have had a couple stalls and loss has slowed down but I am still not really exercising due to working so much, so in a way it is good to know that I am dropping weight just by eating healthy. I am on full solids now and I found out pretty quickly that I cannot do the regular Keto with this bypass like I did with the sleeve. The excess fats cause diarrhea. That kind of sucks because I can't stand ground Turkey so if I do foods with EXTRA lean ground beef I just have to take a chance on how I will react to it. I am glad it does that in a way, it tells me I won't be absorbing all that fat anymore. Another HUGE win is that for some odd reason, I am able to eat all kinds of lettuce again, even the iceberg....with the sleeve, any kind of lettuce would cause major stomach pain and I would throw it right back up but now it sits just fine so lots of salads for me!!! yippee!! LOL I know I need to supplement my Protein though but that's not really a problem. I have been just sprinkling a scoop of Unjury unflavored powder in the salads. Problem solved.

Hope everyone is doing well. Until next time.....✌️

Hi! Sounds like you are doing well, that is awesome!

I am feeling pretty great now myself. I am able to meet Protein goals with real food and get all the Vitamins in OK. I still hate drinking all that d@mn Water, but I do it anyway. LOL!

My only small setback was needing my gallbladder out at 10 weeks from surgery, and that went pretty smooth too. Can't complain!

Glad to hear from a fellow Juner! :)

I stalled for about a week due to getting my first period in 18 months but it seems like it is going back down again. I hit the 80 pound mark from my highest weight today and have lost 47 since surgery.

Hello my lovely bariatric family! I'm now in Onederland and I'm happy! I'm down to 198 which puts me down 38 lbs since surgery (which im kind of disappointed with tbh) but I'm down 95 lbs total. I'm falling off the wagon a little this last week by drinking flat diet dr pepper and eating a few things that aren't the best for me. In going to try to get myself in check. How is everyone?!

I am down 50 lbs. total, about 38 of them (too) post surgery, so I am now at the cusp of "overweight/obese." I work out four times a week and maintain a rather bland repetitive diet. I had RNY so I am mortally afraid of having anything with sugar in it for fear it will cause dumping. I think I am a slow loser and hope I lose another 25 pounds or so, so I will be at a healthy weight.

At 3 months I was down 112.5 pounds (at 240 pounds). No problems with food or drink. No medical complications. The only issues I've had have been social as others adjust to how much I eat. I can sit with anyone while they eat anything and not have any concerns but it seems that some others become embarrassed when they compare their portions to mine. We're working through it though and I think it'll be fine :)

I was eating eight, tracking food and staying within my docs calorie guidelines. I was struggling to exercise due to bad knees and a bad hip. And, after a quick loss of 35 pounds in two months — down 50 including pre-surgery weight loss— then, Nothing. It was almost 5 weeks with no loss. I was a bit discouraged. Two weeks ago — out of no where—I started to lose weight again. Now, I’m down a total of 64 pounds. I still have a long way to go. I am hoping to lose 150 over all. I’m grateful to God for what’s happened so far. I feel so much better. My knees and hip still hurt — weight loss doesn’t fix severe arthritis. But, I’m within 15 pounds of the weight I need to have hip/knee replacement surgery. So, I’m really excited about that. Many of my clothes don’t fit, which is exciting. I haven’t been this weight in 20 years😁

I'm down 80 lbs total...65 since surgery and am going to the gym 5 days a week using the treadmill and weights. I seem to have stalled the last few days but I also am just getting off my period so we'll see if I bounce back in the next few days. I can finally keep down plenty of fluids but still fighting with the food.

Overall I feel good.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
