At 3 months I was down 112.5 pounds (at 240 pounds). No problems with food or drink. No medical complications. The only issues I've had have been social as others adjust to how much I eat. I can sit with anyone while they eat anything and not have any concerns but it seems that some others become embarrassed when they compare their portions to mine. We're working through it though and I think it'll be fine

I had my surgery a week ago and it all went great. The first night was pretty painful (gas, left shoulder mainly) but the gas pain was gone in about 18hrs. Was a little sore on my tummy the next day but have felt great since. None of the pain was anywhere near as bad as I had thought it would be.
I was up and walking almost as soon as I was awake. I needed to get to a toilet! Walking really seemed to help with the pain, so I stayed as active as I could be.
I've read a lot of posts and #1s and #2s. #1s were happening as soon as I was awake in icu and have been normal ever since. #2s started after my leak test (barium swallow xray) about 18hrs after the surgery and I've been regular ever since.
I felt a little nausea the first night but wasn't sick and it soon passed.
I'm on full liquids and not having any problems with any of the food or water I've tried so far. I'm sticking to the diet plan I was given and still have another week and a bit before puree stage. I have noticed that my tastes have changed (for the better). I seem more sensitive to sweet and salty flavours. I haven't felt any hunger (real or imaginary) at all.
Finally and perhaps most excitingly, I've lost 10.5kg (just over 23 pounds) since surgery!
So far, I simply couldn't be happier! ☺

Thanks for the warm welcome and also for starting this thread. I have a feeling that we're on the verge of something great and it's nice to connect to others are going through the same things. By the way, your screen name has given me an ear worm and I kinda love it. I was thin when that song came out! Lol

Hello! I'm scheduled to have a sleeve done on June 14th and my pre-op diet (shakes and veggies) starts next week. I'm a little nervous about the op but also feel excited and ready for all this. Sending good vibes to all!

It makes me happy that we actually have a great group of people who we can turn to if needed. I mean unless you're embarking on this journey, you cant fully understand how exciting, scary, and wonderful this is. A great example is my wonderful husband, he supports me but I know I drive him nuts talking about it lol. Smashing Pumpkins helped get me through high school but so did 80s hair bands lol my parents raised me loving the 80s even though I'm a 90s baby (lol) and Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins were ahead of their time.

I had the lap band for 10 years, it worked for about 8. I had it removed last year and then after being diagnosed with sleep apnea, my insurance said I met their standards for coverage. I couldn't afford to pay for it myself as I'm retired and paid for my band surgery. Just hoping all goes well for you and keep us posted.
