Affordable pouch reset diet?

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am interested in starting the pouch reset. I saw here on BP the "meal plans". They mentioned often what brands I should eat/drink and I'd like to know if anybody had a more generic ( besides Protein powder) version of these stated meals. I am beyond poor and can only afford one type of powder. In the past I enjoyed Syntax mixed flavors.

I never feel restriction and I'm hoping the reset will help in going forward, just don't know an affordable way to do it.

Thanks in advance. ❤

Nevermind. I have done research and found that this is a myth. What I need to do is observe, reprocess and change my life.

Wish me luck!

just go back to eating the way you were the first year (not the Protein Shakes and purees - but the way you ate when you were a few months out). Protein first, then non-starchy vegetables, and then, if you still have room, a piece of fruit or a small amount of whole grain carbs.

dense protein is very filling (e.g., meat) - so try to choose that as your protein whenever you can.

Thank you, I will. I'm making a shopping list right now. I'm going to get PP at Walmart, what kind of protein do I get? BTW, I think I saw Greek yogurt with a ton of protein, does the body have a "limit" of protein intake per meal?

THANK YOU so much, I'm at work now, trying to figure this all out! Doing a personal inventory, making lists, checking Walmarts foods (cheaper than our local stores)

You're really helping me out with your suggestions, advise. Bless you!

Greek yogurt does have a lot of Protein, and I eat it every day, but it does go right through you. Something like meat sits in your stomach a lot longer, thus keeping you fuller. That's not to say that you shouldn't eat Greek yogurt, but try to get some meat in for some of your meals, too.

I've read that there is a limit to how much protein the body can absorb at one time - I can't remember off-hand, but I think it was 30 or 40 grams, but I also recall that there wasn't really a consensus on this. I have to eat 100+ grams a day because I malabsorb protein (my prealbumin level tanks if I don't get that much), but I spread it out throughout the day.

Man, that's a LOT of protein! In my "new" beginning, should I keep yogurt, (slider) type foods as a go to snack food or would that just jump right through my stomach, with nothing to really "sit" in there for a while? I understand about density, just wondering about yogurt, as it's high in Protein.

I eat Greek yogurt every morning for Breakfast and often as a snack, too - but then, I'm not as hungry at those times as I am at lunch and dinner. I try to eat something denser for lunch and dinner. Although I know people who eat deli meat for breakfast, so that works, too!

Very sound choices and reasons. I hate breakfast but I can push yogurt. I'm trying to decide on Protein Powder or bars.

I still drink a Protein Shake every day as a mid-morning snack, but that's so I'm sure to get in my 100+ grams. It'd be a challenge to get all that in just from food. But most people don't really need Protein Shakes once they're a few months out - they can easily get in the required 60+ grams from food at that point. It's just that my Protein needs are higher than most people's because of my malabsorption issue. As far as bar vs. shakes, bar is definitely going to be denser than a shake.

Thanks! What do you think of sprinkling PP on food?

It's not WHAT you eat. It's what you DON'T EAT. Stop eating. LOL. Do intermittent fasting and go back to clean food.

Dense lean Protein

Al dente veg

Small amounts of healthy fat with each meal.

Get your cals back in the range for losing.

The End.

It's the same prescription we were given right after we got to our regular food stage after surgery.

Don't eat and drink at the same time...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
