I thought of another one today! My armpits used to be fleshy and easy to shave. Now they're all concave and I struggle to get all the hair with the razor!

Omg yes!!! I miss an entire patch sometimes!!!

I didn't realize when I lost weight that ______:

  • I would now be able to see that I have scoliosis with the naked eye, and so would all of my doctors all of a sudden.
  • I apparently look like my sister now, after decades of everyone saying we look nothing alike
  • Visitors from other national offices would seek me out when in town for a business trip for no other reason than they've seen my updated headshot in emails and want to get the full effect
  • People would take my photo, a lot
  • I would spend quite this much time assuring chefs that I did like what they cooked, I just can't eat much of it

Funny, sideeye, but my ortho pointed out the same thing, said " it wasn't as noticable when you were heavier!" Sorry Dr D, but I am going to lose more, too bad about your👀 eyesight, you are the right age for b👓focals anyway. 👸😝

I didn't realize when I lost weight that ______:

I would become a walking advertisement for WL Journey/WLS although not at all intended.

Someone would refer to my two teen daughters and I as triplets and really mean it.

Hey It Is A Real Thing, sat on wood chair without my special pillow, a half- hour and I was wiggling like a puppy with pinworms, trying to find a comfortable angle to put my throbbing tush in, never did find it, headed for the one chair with padding and springs in the room. Was ready to snarl at anyone who tried to dislodge me from Fluffy and Supportive. Johnnie Cochran could play the " Race Card" well I will play the "Age Card" if necessity raises its head!

I didn't realize when I lost weight that I would be so excited about pooping lol.

I NEVER had issues being regular pre-surgery, in fact it was usually the opposite because I was on Metformin for PCOS.

Also, I didn't realize that I would be cold all the time. Hoping that works in my favor when the Texas summer heat hits.

I didn't realize that when I lost weight...

That I would be so inclined to purchase 5 pairs of the same affordable, Jones New York Lexington Bermuda white shorts (we can wear white here all year around) in decreasing sizes. I started out with size 18 in February. Dropped into a size 16 by March. This April - I am now wearing size 14. Size 12 by late May? Maybe settle into a sound size 10 by June or July? At any size, I really like the tailored jean fit and feel. Goes with everything in my revolving wardrobe. You might want to check them out. Purchased at our Dillard's store here.

Will I need a size 8 someday? No way! Is that even possible. Oh boy.

Silly, I know, but I always liked looking nice before surgery even in sizes 2X or 3X... AND, I am absolutely elated like Greentealael to Celebrate regular size labels again!!! It is a euphoric moment.

And, by the way ladies - Guess who tried to pick me up yesterday morning... My hubby! I had laughed when I read earlier posts and thought to myself - I don't think mild manner Robert the engineer would ever try to pick me up. But he did. I kid you not, he wrapped his arms around my mid-section and attempted to lift up! Not realizing a hug was turning into a gymnastic routine, a resounding big OOCH came from my mouth. It really hurt. My ribs and back were sore all day. Understanding he didn't mean to crush me - I said, maybe will use bubble wrap protection the next time.

So, definitely, another thing I didn't realize when I lost weight... A new HE MAN thing would emerge. ;]

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
