I’m getting ready for the gastric sleeve and I’m hitting the gym to help out my health, how long after surgery do I have to wait till I can at least walk in the treadmill?

It depends. My surgeon told me that I didn't have to wait at all to do things like walking on a treadmill. Now, any type of lifting won't be able to be done for a while, but walking should be able to be done relatively soon after surgery. As always though, ask your surgeon.

I started walking a few hours after surgery. I didn't start lifting weights again until 2 months after surgery. Best wishes on your recovery!

I agree with the other posters, my surgeon insisted on walking right away, and when I was discharged the instructions were to walk AT LEAST 3 times a day. I have been using my treadmill since I got home.

They want you walking as soon as you're able to prevent blood clots forming in your legs. Once you're out of the hospital, be sensitive to your body. Listen to it. Slow down a bit if you're feeling pained. Walk longer if you feel good. Hospital provided a velcro cloth to wrap around my stomach I used it when I walked.

Good Luck. Keep us posted on your progress.

You'll be able to do the treadmill right away. Other cardio like bicycle within 2 weeks, and the machines in 6 weeks.

Well I’m 4 days post op and just now able to walk upright.. lol I went to the gym to walk on the treadmill, I was so embarrassed as other people are walking fast, jogging and such, I’m only able to walk at 1.7 mph and still feel a little pain and couldn’t walk but about half a mile.. how long does the site usually hurt on the side the Dr takes the part of the stomach out?

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
