Frustrated - lost my restriction....

Recommended Posts

I have a 4cc band and am filled to 3.2cc - was banded April 26, 2007. I've felt restriction before, but it goes away after a few weeks so this last fill I had some restriction but felt that I needed a little more and after he gave me a slight fill, it was like I completely lost all of my restriction. I guess that's what I get for being greedy....I don't know what to do now! Any suggestions? Do you think I may have slipped?? :help:

I had that happen to me once. They pull out what you have in there, then add more. I think there is a way to lose contact with the port or something. I called after a couple of days and told them I felt like I had no fill at all. I went in, he pulled the needle back, and sure enough, I had no saline.

I am going for another fill in Dec. and I am afraid the same thing is going to happen. My doctor could not figure out how I lost all my fill. I didn't have a leak, because he filled me way up thinking I had a leak, and I had to go back for a defill right away because I was way too tight.

I am very interested in others that have had this problem. I also have lost all feeling of restriction. I have nearly 4cc's in the 4cc band and can eat anything. I used to get "that feeling" like something was stuck and since my last fill I get nothing. I don't have pain and I still stay full for 3-4 hours but I do eat more at mealtime than before. I am not gaining weight but not losing either. I am exercising 3-5 days per week. I don't get it...

Turns out I was supposed to have 3.4cc in my band, however I only had 1.8cc....not sure why, but he filled me back up and I have restriction again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
