Recommended Posts

January 16th I had the gastric bypass I was doing well I was able to eat n follow the diet plans then February 23rd my gallbladder was removed n I can’t really hold anything down since then everything I try to eat comes right back up! I have lost 50lbs so far my starting weight was 304 n now 254 but I really don’t feel like myself at all the lack of energy my body is just tired 😓 all I want to do is sleep period! I am not drinking enough fluids that I know for a fact n all I can drink is gingerale n Water through out the day n still just sips here n there.

I'm so sorry you are not feeling well. The first advice that I can give you is call your doctor and go see him/her. Let them know how you are feeling. I had gastric bypass done 10 years ago and I remember that the first days were fine, but around 2 months after I couldn't even drink Water. Your symptoms could be do to several possible causes. Some people just experience this normally a few months after surgery. Or it could be that the bile that was stores before in your gallbladder is working differently to help with digestion. Some people develop scar tissue around the incision from the gastric bypass surgery. It could be different things or just the body attempting to recover after two surgeries. I remember I could only drink Crystal Light for about 4 months after the surgery, as water would make me gag.

I'd make an appointment with your doctor to make sure everything's working well. It's always good to check.

Good luck on your road to recovery! Life will be normal again. It takes a while, but it gets better!

You can possibly lose your gall bladder anytime you lose a large amount of weight in a short period of time.

I lost mine years ago after I lost 80 lbs on the Atkins diet and xrays revealed I had 10 gall stones so it had to go.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
