Anyone else find it difficult with liver shrinking diet with their surgeries?

Recommended Posts

I just finished day one, so I am mo pro, but my program allows Stevia in the plain yogurt. I found it to be easier than I expected, but we'll see how tomorrow goes! We can do this!! Jow many calories are you taking in a day?

Check with your program to see if you can do creamed Soups on this diet. I can't. You don't want to mess up the liver shrinking!

Has anyone ever heard of someone not shrinking their liver? I don’t plan on doing the full two weeks as I’m afraid of falling below BMI to do surgery. I am right at the BMI to get it done.

Maybe you should tell your concerns to your team. I think once you are approved for surgery at a certain BMI it doesn't matter if you drop below. The liver needs to be nice and healthy. Not fatty for the surgeon's ease in doing the surgery. I would do the diet as long as your doctor told you to.

It's not really shrinking your liver itself...it's the fat around it :780_sparkling_heart:

Yeah she’s right. Check on the cream Soup. Mine allowed it but every dr is different.

Of course all plans are different, but here's mine:

Actually, obese individuals with fatty liver do have enlarged livers from fat within the liver. The diet is to make the liver smaller so the surgeon can work in there safely. ;-)

Hi All! I am on day 7 of PreOp diet. My surgeon allows food but low cal, low carb and small meals. I woke up in the middle of the night last night with a growling stomach. I am not used to being hungry so I is hard. I appreciate now what it feels like for people who don’t have enough to eat. I am not sure how to go the next 7 days maybe drinking more fluids will help? Any tips?

I'm on day 5 of the pre op diet, and some days are easier than others. Yes, I think more Fluid helps, and also sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello. Im also allowed low carb Protein Shakes. I'm hungry all the time, too! We will persevere!

my mind is messing with me knowing that'll it be the last time probably that i'll probably never be able to eat all my fav foods. im sticking to it! but mentally it's draining on me.

Try not to have food Funerals because you think you will never again eat your favourite foods again, you will eventually be able to eat just about everything just not as much! Stay strong, the first few months are definitely the hardest. And try to use this time to wean yourself off of bad eating habits because they can come back into your life and ruin your success. Good luck 😉

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
