Two days post surgery and utterly miserable

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I had my lap band fitted on Friday afternoon and I’m really finding it difficult I know to expect recovery to be hard I did my research, but I am seriously starting to doubt my decision to do this I am miserable and unhealthy as an overweight woman, but now questioning whether I can really do this as in so much pain now with the wind, and I really think I can feel the band tight inside my and my body rejecting it even tho it’s empty. I can only manage a few teaspoons of Soup and Water. Please someone tell me it settles down soon I really need some reassurance as at the moment I can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks xx

I did get pain medicine just liquid paracetamol. The wind pain has eased off this morning but seems to return in the evening and I’m suffering badly with aesophagus spasms I didn’t know what they were but looked through this site and found some info on them. I feel a bit better about what’s happening now knowledge is power and all that! Feeling vulnerable is the worst! Going to talk to the weight loss support team today about getting something that stops the spasms as they are intolerable. Thank you for replying xx

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
