There are for sure many reasons and most likely everyone has an opinion about how legitimate or understandable these reasons might be. Can't force anyone to tell the (whole) truth when asked about "How did you lose so much weight?" or maybe (that's the question I'm sometimes asked in my current environment where people don't know me at another weight) "How are you able to maintain your weight? I seem to be struggling more and more as the years go by."

I don’t judge people on their decision to disclose or not disclose. Freedom of choice is a great thing.

You are right, you can’t force people to disclose/tell the truth about their medical information. So, If I had cancer I should be "forced" to tell people about chemotherapy? Is not disclosing my cancer treatment out of shame?

You still get asked about your weight/ maintaining? Things have become mundane years out. I never get asked about my weight anymore. I have been this size for years.

Where I work at since about 1.5 years people ask about maintaining weight, yes. However, they ask not in a WLS related manner. They only know me at a normal weight.

It's more like many people (especially the guys) notice some pudge around the middle once they enter the late thirties or early forties at the latest as it seems. They ask other people around their age who don't gain weight as the years go by or during the Holidays or during vacation or when **** hits the fan again at work and there is even more stress than usually (like at the moment) and chocolate consumption seems to run rampant in the department how they manage it, too. I'm definitely not the only one who gets asked.

Maybe you would be surprised how many people are indeed ashamed out of some reason for their illness.

I have been worried about people asking this, I have my closest co-workers know why because we work very closely and I will be out for a week. I have talked with them and they all agree it is no ones business how or why I am losing weight but to answer the question with something I/we came up with I am on a medically supervised liquid diet and that is all anyone will know.
