Hi all! I've been a slow loser since my gastric sleeve in July and while I'm trying to keep my chin up, I'm beyond frustrated. I eat very close to Whole30, get 70-90 grams of Protein daily, take all my Vitamins, drink plenty of Water. I walk at least 2 miles a day 7 days a week, do HIIT a couple times a week and lift weights twice a week. I'm also on 150 mg of Pristiq and 2 mg of Abilify. I used to take Metformin to negate some of the possible weight gain with Abilify, but stopped just before surgery. Now I'm wondering if the Abilify is hindering my ability to lose weight. Does anyone else take Abilify or other mood stabilizers who's had this experience? I'm talking with my psychiatrist about it on the 21st, but I'm just curious if other people have experienced this.

Antidepressants are notorious for weight gain and impairing the ability to lose weight. I used to take Abilify and Pristiq. They messed up my blood pressure, so now I'm on Prozac and Rexulti, which is a better fit for me, but they're still not weight neutral. In the end I'll just have to lose more weight to counteract the weight impact of the medications.

I had great weight loss and lost 100lbs got under 200 very quickly and then was put back on my Abilify and it was like the weight loss just suddenly stopped now I’ve put back on 20 lbs and they have switched around meds. Not at all happy about it.

Thanks for the feedback, @GradyCat and @suzysunshine123. I'm definitely going to be broaching this topic with my doc and see what I can do.

Yeah I found Abilify made me put on weight (this was b4 surgery) so I flat out refused to take it. I promised my pdoc that if I start having bipolar issues I will take it, but I'm very strict with my sleep and daylight hygiene so so far so good.

Thank you, @ummyasmin. I think I'm going to tell my doc I want to do the same.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
