After 4 years, I hit and maintained my goal weight. And now I'm getting rid of the skin. I will be having fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty, a panniculectomy and a medial thigh lift. Based on the descriptions of these procedures, I think I may have picked the most difficult ones to start. :53_cold_sweat: But I've paid the deposit and it's too late to turn back now.

So, is there anyone who can tell me how to prepare? I won't have anyone to sit with me after the 5th day; I'll be on my own. So, how do I set up my living space for successful recuperation? I've got a pillow to brace my abdomen for coughing, sneezing, or standing. I'm renting a chair that reclines and lifts the user to a standing position. I've got hospital gowns for ease of potty use at home. Anything I've missed?

May I ask, as I have no frame of reference, how much something like that costs?

I did not need anything special after these two surgeries (Tho I did not do them together, and also they did not tighten my stomach muscles as I have hernia mesh in there) The thing I would always tell people to get is the right compression garments. Once i was in the garment - It was far less painful (If painful at all)

I remember when I had my inner thigh lift when I first stood up it was Badddddddddddddddd - I remember saying to them 'You can't send me home like this' - They kept me in an extra day - BUT - About 20 minutes later I was in my compression garment and was bored and wished I were able to go home already - LOL

I think you would need something like one of these two to cover both areas. (I bought them in black, lol)

Or the below one I had then I had my Tummy Tuck and I had a long legged or knee length one without upper body for the thigh lifts if I remember correctly. They are not cheap but they are worth their weight in gold - For unknown reasons I still have them somewhere in this house - No reason why - I would never use them again - LOL

Good luck - Remember when it feels bad - Keep your eyes on the prize - These words were said to me and I held on to them and told my kids to repeat these words to me if I ever had a wobble pre or post surgery and they were right - The prize is fantastic - I had these ops about 8 to 9 years ago now and I am as happy today with the results as I was on day one 😊

I am in the UK so the prices shown seem very different to me to be honest - But this PDF shows sizing and stuff

https://www.eurosurgical.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Body-Contouring-Garments-Brochure-Final-08.03.1.pdf

Good luck - You will be so happy to meet the new you 😊

Ooh - Thought of something else....

Do this - No matter what the Dr says - Do it! Your scars will be much finer and I tested this on myself and I put the pinky Micropore tape on one inner thigh and a cheaper tape on the other - The micropore tape leg scar is far far better than the other one!

Buy this..... (Not the cheap lookalike stuff) You will find it a lot cheaper than $50 though if you look around on Amazon etc

https://www.amazon.co.uk/3M-Micropore-Paper-Tape-Rolls/dp/B002P70T52

And keep it on 24/7 for 3 months! Yes it seems a lot but I tested this over 5 ops and the scars were better when I kept tape on for all this time - Obviously changing it to wash etc lol (So you need a lot of it) - When you are about to shower - Always remove the tape BEFORE - Cos if it gets all wet - It's sooo hard to get it off!

I did not use ot on my Fleur de lis and I wish wish wish I knew this trick then! - When I had butt lift later and it re-opened part of the tummy scar at that point put in a tightish ring round my waist and kept it there - This bit is a far far better scar than the rest of it!

You will thank me for it when you see your scar is so fine you have to really look to find it! Whereas the scar I have on my belly that I did not use this on - It stretched and I wish I knew this trick then! This tape supports the scar through it's healing stage and makes the stretching far far less or not at all. It was hard to put the tape on - I was lucky I had a 9yr old to do it for me - Hopefully you will find a way....

Sorry for the delayed response. This is a shade over $25k.

Scamp, this is incredibly helpful. Thank you SO much. The surgeon's office is providing the compression garments but I'm thinking that I should purchase a 2nd set of garments so that I will have a clean one to put on while the other is being washed and air dried.

I had massive full body liposuction in 2009 (12K worth of Lipo alone) and wore upper and lower compression garments for several weeks. I fully concur with getting at least one second set of garments, maybe even a third.... because they will get gross and stinky pretty fast. =p

Agree. Also I ended up ordering a size down. I had many liquids and popsicles When is it scheduled? Maybe a fan to keep air circulating. A shower chair and a laxative!! I had tummy and bum plus breasts and needed some help. Can you maybe get someone - a LPC to come help with wound dressing and or showering? 2 hours or so a day. Price in my city is about 35 an hour. Either way you have this. Note. I used Maxy pads as wound dressing instead of cotton gauze and tape. Best to you!!!!

I had the fleur di lis last year. I used a cane for weeks because you will not be able to stand up straight and your back will hurt. I slept in a chair for about a month. I bought a shower chair
Also get super max pads and surgical tape for the leaks. It is a surreal feeling after you heal. My stomach is flat and it feels amazing. Where are you going?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
