Starting to gain the weight back help

Recommended Posts

Hi Tammy, Sorry to hear about your stroke! Glad that you are healthy again and ready to start back on track-that motivation is generally the hardest part about weight loss. I, unfortunately, have only recently been sleeved so I am unfamiliar with what advice might be the most helpful. This forum has been extremely helpful to me thus far so I am sure there will be lots of assistance. Keep your chin up!

after my stroke in June I started gaining my weight back and now I need help to restart my diet. What can I do to start to loss this weight

Hi Tammy and welcome! So sorry about your struggles!! ((hugs)) How scary!

Give us some info about yourself! How far post op, what stage you're in, what you're eating, how much, what your doctor recommends. If it was me, I'd make sure to involve not only my cardiologist but also my surgeon and RD with formulating this plan and also a plan for PT and then daily movement and exercises! You need all of those things and it's way more complicated than I can probably tell you.

I know you will get it figured out!! We're here to help you!!

Why do they think you had a stroke after losing your weight?

Just wondering are you assuming that weight loss caused the stroke? Hopefully Tammy just doesn't think they know what caused the stroke but hopefully the medical care team where able to give Tammy a good indication what caused it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
