It’s getting real 2/20/2019 1:00pm

Recommended Posts

I finished my hospital pre-op testing today and i found myself in a ball of tears. I am not scared (i don’t think), i am just nurvous that the weight loss wont help the swelling in my left leg and foot that i have been dealing with for 3 1/2 years.

I started my 10 day pre-op Sunday 10, 2019. I am not having any issues with the restrictions thus far.

I will update again in a couple of days and daily after the surgery.

This is a before pucture...

Ok, it may not help. IDK. But I had so much foot/ankle swelling from heart problems and being morbidly obese. I also had huge left arm lymphedema leftover from cancer treatment. And I've lost 140lbs. I'm no longer on any of my bp meds, the Fluid around my heart is getting smaller, no more swollen feet or ankles, and my lymphedema is maybe maybe a little better on some days?

This is a wise thing you are doing!!!!

And we will be twins, 1 year apart! :) Mine was Feb 20, 2018. I can just say, what a difference a year makes!

Thank you soooooo much for reading and taking out the time to respond. i am in a better head space, icalled one ofmy brothers and he really spoke like and my best friend from high school shared encouraging words and now you words of experience. Youare a blessing!!!

This is day 4 on the7 day pre-op before the full liquids. I am doing so far. I got this!

Let me take a moment to share the issues that my doctors say should improve with my heath after significant weight loss:

Issues i am currently experiencing:

* Back issues #4 & #5 vertebrae is getting worse and i get steroid shots to help decrease the pain

* Fatty Liver

* Mitral Valve is leaking in my beart- potential heart surgery high blood pressure makes the valve leak more. I am considered moderate to severe.

* Hi BP- currently taking four BP pills in one day. I take 131mg of bo pills to control my BP

* Swelling left foot and leg and have been dealing with this for 3 1/2 years.

My current weight is 270lbs which I am considered morbid obese.

This is my store, i pray that as i post my journey someone getting started eill be encouraged as those who have traveled before me encourage me along my journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
