Time off work

Recommended Posts

I was given my surgery date 02.25.19 I am so excited. I am wondering if anyone can tell me about how many days I should take off work. I am a auto claims adjuster and I am at my desk about 7.5 hours a day.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

1 week minimum, 2 weeks if you can get away with it. It takes a while to feel energetic again. The pain is usually gone after a week.

@Reina73

you have a desk job. it might be a little easier to return to the office if you are not too tired.

if you can financially afford it/and time is given to you - i suggest one - two weeks if you are

feeling "ok", only a little tired. - BUT don't push yourself,it's not worth it. maybe go back at

first taking 1/2 days then full days. See what works for you.

i have said this before, in my case i returned to "work" the second i was home.

i am happily retired☺️

good luck w/bypass next month.

speedy recovery

kathy

I work in the medical field. I always tell my patients to try and return the middle of the week if possible. That way you only have a few days to work, can rest on the weekend before having to go thru 5 straight days. If you can take a week and the second week return on a Wednesday or Thursday that may be a great compromise.

My surgery is February 13th and I took off for 12 days and plan on going back on a Wednesday like earlier suggested. I work in Police/fire dispatch so not necessarily a desk job but not really physically taxing either...good luck!

I took off three weeks but felt good enough to go back after two. I was pretty tired for awhile, though, so I was glad for that third week - but I could have gone back if I had to.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
