Hi everyone, so I have my surgery date 2/21/2019. I know that post-op we should wait 2 weeks to return to work. But was wondering if there was anyone out there that went back earlier and how they did. I have a very sedentary job and thinking I might be okay after like a week and a half. Any input is appreciated.

I went back to work Day 3 post-op! I felt 100%. I was told at least a week, but I sit at a desk and would have to move around at home anyway, so less sick time for me.

I had my surgery on Dec. 26th and went back to work on Dec. 31st. However, the reason I was able to do this is because I was allowed to work from home. I also have a desk job, but I didn't actually drive back in to work until yesterday.

The pain meds that you may have been given upon leaving the hospital may impair your driving. Due to this, I would say it's best to ask your surgeon if it's okay to drive.

I go to school and drive an hour each way. I went back Monday, which is 1 week post op for me. I'm doing fine, I just take it slow.

I'm one week post-op and am taking 2 weeks, but could probably go back tomorrow and be fine. I have a very sedentary desk job. I'm off pain meds and haven't taken a nap in the middle of the day in several days. I recommend requesting 2 weeks off and letting your supervisor know that you may be back before that, dependent upon how you feel.

Mine was over the Xmas holiday so I was off a few weeks. I could’ve easily gone back after a week. My only problem would’ve been with clothes not being comfortable. I still had swelling in stomach area so I wore pajama bottoms or loose clothing for 2 weeks. Also I have a commute so I would’ve had to make stops to walk and stretch.

Yah I stopped taking the meds at about day 5 and was fine with Tylenol. I'm currently day 12 and don't need anything for pain anymore.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
