Not losing weight!!!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery 3 weeks ago. I immediately started to lose weight and lost about 20lb in the first two weeks. For the last week though, I’ve stayed exactly the same or gained weight. I don’t understand why this is happening.

I am doing everything I am supposed to be doing and I am getting incredibly down. All of my mental and physical energy is consumed with making sure I am successful with this new lifestyle. Making sure I am drinking enough, eating the right things at the right times. Not lifting things too heavy.

My Docotor said not to be concerned because they don’t really start tracking weight loss until after the first 30 days. He said that the body is still healing and adjusting and that I should focus on healthy habits.

But it’s beating me down to see no progress on the scale. I keep waiting for it to show a drop and for this streak to end but it doesn’t. Has anyone else gone through this?

You need to remember even though the scale doesn’t show it you might be losing inches from your body, keep following your Dr order keep exercising only cardio until your Dr says otherwise And don’t worry about everybody goes through this you are not alone

You will find you are not alone, it you put the word stall, stalled or stalling in the search link in the top left hand search link, you will find a lot of people stall at the three week stage plus other stages/phases, typically this is because they are progressing the food stages then its just the body taking time out to adjust. Some people also experience some daily or weekly gains, again this is normal...but as long as the long term trend is weight down it is what it is.

Hi hun, don't beat yourself up...It happens to almost everyone, like the other poster said please do a search on "Stalls" you will see thousands of posts on that topic. You will eventually start losing again and then another stall will happen...BUT the good thing is you are losing weight despite the dreaded STALL.

Keep following your plan and you WILL succeed! We are all here for you.

You got this!! ((Hugs)) 😉

There will be stalls.. keep in mind this is a journey and it takes time. I was stepping on the scale daily and it could be frustrating if it doesnt move. The best thing to do is to remove the scale or have somebody hide it so you dont have access to it but once a week.

Keep doing what you're doing and it will happen. I've lost 99lbs in the last six months with little to no effort. I attribute my success to reducing my stress by not obsessing over the day-to-day stuff and concentrating on living and healing. While it's inspiring to step on the scale and see the numbers drop, be proud of what you've already accomplished and let that continue to inspire you. You've lost 20lbs! That's terrific.

I noticed that you posted very little in your user stats. I've always enjoyed seeing my progress recorded. It's such an ego boost. If you need help getting to the right area to make these changes, I can (and others) will be happy to get you there.

Famous 3 week stall. Do a search on it here. :) It'll happen.

I had my first stall around 3 weeks and wasn’t my last. The month of December I barely lost any weight per the scale BUT my clothes were still getting too big. Within the last few days the scale started dropping again and I am down around 5 lbs in about 4 days. Hang in there. Remember it’s a marathon not a sprint.

It's called the Week 3 Stall and it happens to almost everyone... maybe not exactly on week three but sometime between week 2 and week 4 there is a stall. It's total normal and expected. There is actually science that explains why. In addition to all the hormonal changes you're experiencing and the shock your body is trying to cope with, fat is stubborn. As you burn through the cells, the space left behind retains Water. It can take a little while for your body to flush this water out. Ironically, the best way to move this process along is to drink lots of water and exercise (not only does exercise accelerate weight loss, but you flush out a lot of water when you sweat). The stall can last a week or even a little longer, but fear not. It will end and you'll be back on your way to skinny.

Having a stall in week 3 as well but apparently it's really common my mom had the same problem. I'm hoping next week I'll see something.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
