Where do you find your vitamin supplements?

Recommended Posts

I just bought my Multi-Vitamin (required to have folic acid of 400mcg, Iron of 18 mg, zinc, copper and selenium and B12 500 mcg) and my calcium citrate (required to have 1200-1500 mg) for $20. I got the opurity calcium-citrate plus chewable from unjury.com and the multi-vitamin from Amazon, the Pro Care Health Bariatric Multivitamin for $20. Is there somewhere out there that has all of this that is easier on the pocketbook?

I use the Walgreen multi Vitamin for 50 plus. I eat enough dairy for the Calcium and I take D3 because I am deficient in Vitamin D. You can get sublingual B12 at Walmart for cheap. You don't need any vitamin with Iron unless you are iron deficient.

The first Vitamins which was the chewable ones right after surgery I got from Walgreens and CVS, after finishing the chewable ones I got the pill form from Walmart and they are working just fine for me. I’m taking a multi Vitamin, B12 and Calcium. CVS and Walgreens always have sales so when I run out I’ll check them out. Look for sales 🙂

I'm required to take a multi with iron. @paulamelton If your surgeon has recommended one with iron, I would follow his or her recommendation.

I have a crazy, long Vitamin list by specific brand and I just get them all on Amazon.

NO gummies

  1. Multivitamin w/minerals (Centrum or One-A-Day)
  2. B12 (I get monthly shots at my PCP because TOO MANY PILLS!)
  3. Calcium Vivactiv brand 630 mg 3x a day
  4. Vitamin D
  5. Iron Vitron-C (cool side effect, green poop)

This on top of my normal meds is enough that I have to use an app to manage it. You can't take iron and calcium within 2 hours of each other. The app is called Medisafe.

I buy the Bariatric Advantage chewables online (either Amazon or here). I like only having to remember to take one kind of Vitamin. I think if I had to take a bunch of different Vitamins, I'd routinely miss some. They're expensive, but in reality, its no more than I'd have spent on one a couple nights of take out before the surgery and they last me a month.

I live in a small town, and tried to find stuff... drove to a larger city... checked at Walgreens.... I got tired of looking, and just didn't want to try and consume all the requirements... so i just went to tespo... and ordered bariatric & hair & nails. I"ve been very happy with them, and know that I'm getting the right amount. It probably is more expensive, but i have so many other things going on in my life with job, family... it makes my life simple.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
