No issues ... until now- nausea!

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have had my band for about 5-6 years and it’s been great. I never had an issue until I had to remove cc’s Due to pregnancy. Now, more than 2.5 years on from giving birth and having refilled the band slowly over this time I am having an issue.

For the past week or so I have been extremely nauseas. I saw a gp today as I live in a small country town and my specialist is 1600kms away in the city. The Gp has filled my band for me before with no issues. I asked if removing cc’s Would assist in making me feel better and he said yes. So we took 1full cc out. I am still so nauseas.

Has anyone else had this? If so- how long until you felt better? I’m worried I’ve had a slippage.... but the gp didn’t believe so.

Thanks

Hi there

I had a band for years and we had to play with it for a long time but over or underfilling, a slippage, reflux, a breakage, an abscess - none of it made me nauseous. The slippage hurt, made me cough. It felt - dull pain.

I wonder if it is something unconnected to the band? A bug, maybe. (Pregnancy springs to mind? None of my business of course but...)

I reckon check out all the other options? Are you eating ok, swallowing ok?

I was thinking the same thing. I did not have the band, but those seem to be the signs of pregnancy again. It could just be coincidence that it happened around the same time as the band filling. Wont hurt to get checked out :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
