Afraid to mess it all up

Recommended Posts

Hello all! This is my first time posting in this forum.

I'm 10 days post op for VSG and everything seems to be going well. But, I'm scared to death that I'm messing up somehow. I'm getting my fluids in and taking about 3 ounces of broth/soup/blended Soup or Protein Shake every few hours (on full liquids at this point). I'm taking in about 12 ounces total of non-water/full liquids. I'm not really feeling hungry or anything. My fear has to do with feeling full. At first, I was feeling pain in my stomach when getting "full" but that sensation has pretty much gone away. I still feel a twinge when I've had enough soup or whatever, but I'm just wondering if this is "normal." (That I've stopped having the pain)

What do you think? Am I overthinking things? Should I just be thankful I'm not feeling the pain anymore?

TIA!

Overthinking .... you won't get a full sensation until you start eating solid food :)

Thank you, sillykitty. It's just all so new, I don't know where else to ask these types of questions:)

Congrats on reaching (surpassing) your goal! That's so awesome! Your starting wt, your ht, and goal are so close to mine! Gives me lots of hope! Thanks again!

I had my surgery on December 10th. I also have a lot of worries but I just try to keep on drinking. I drink a lot of Water and I worry about my protien intake. I was mostly pain free after only about 5 days. So I would think that part is normal

I have the same fear. I fear that I'll stretch my pouch out and end up back where I started.
I had mine in July. I try to just listen to my body....I try and eat slow and don't drink a bunch while eating.
Hard to do I know. Everyday is a work in progress for me. Just keep staying positive.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
