I need to get back on track

Recommended Posts

Help I am two years post op and just can't get my crap together. I don't over eat, however I haven't been making good food choices. I lost 123 lbs and have gained 30 lbs back. I am in a size 12 and honestly that is the size I wanted to be, considering I was a size 24 when i started. I got down to a 10 and now that I had a taste of it I want it so badly, but just cant seem to get back on track. I know these may seem like excuses, but life has thrown me some major punches this past year. My husband started a job that requires him to be gone most of the week and we have 13 children. I only have 11 home now but as you can imagine it is a busy job and I find very little time for myself. Any suggestions on how to get my crap together and get back on track? I have noticed since surgery, I have developed major anxiety and had many panic attacks. These are all new to me. Has anyone developed anxiety since surgery? If anyone has anything that has helped them get back on track please feel free to share>

Hi. Couldn’t sleep so perusing my fav site. Came upon your post. Yes. My anxiety has gotten worse since I had the surgery. I suffered from an anxiety disorder before surgery but it seems to have gotten worse since. I try to use meditation and try to relax when possible. I am a nurse and am a single mom working two jobs. Not easy. Be kind To yourself. Try to take baby steps. Sounds like you have a very busy life but you have to find even fifteen minutes here and there to close your eyes and regroup. Best of luck to you. Feel free to reach out.

You can get into weight loss mode again. I needed to change my behavior of eating to calm anxiety/stress/emotions. If you need help with anxiety/panic attacks, You can get ahold of your family physician or a therapist. Getting back on track and maintaining your weight is work. I'm not always motivated.

Its easy to gain a pound a month. It turns into 12 pounds in a year...24 the next year. and so on. I had a 16 pound gain in my third year and worked it back down. Maintaining for me is weighing every day. I gave myself a ten pound bounce range. When the scale goes up I get back into weight loss mode.

Losing the 16 pounds:

  • Had my hubby hide temptations in the house. Went grocery shopping.
  • Logged my food. I found that I had to dial in calories and macros to see where my body starts losing weight again.
  • Get activity in.Can you work in 30 min at home? If you can't weight loss will be mainly from your diet.
  • This may not be helpful to hear - Im not sure what will get you back your old discipline/motivation. I put motivational weight loss mems on my fridge. I look here for newer people in weight loss mode that are excited. I do weight loss challenges. I have a goal dress I want to fit into for new years.

I hope you find what works. You are one busy lady.

Wow well having 13 kids and an absent hubs is certainly anxiety inducing!!!

Also about the anxiety, maybe call the doc and go get a physical/all your blood drawn. It could very well be a vitamin/mineral deficiency at 2 years. Not sayin' it is...but it could be.

Also, drink LOTS of water--like north of 100oz per day at least!

Try to drop the crap carbs (at least a little at a time), and so agree with everything that @skinnylife said!!! Start that logging again and tracking stuff! You can do it!!!!

Water, logging for your food, and seeing your GP about your anxiety.

Your anxiety might be inhibiting your weight loss

Absolutely back to basics. I lost a 40 lb regain in about 6 months, but my eating style isn't for everyone. Get back to what you did in the first few months post op. Log it ALL. Drink that Water. Move.

You got this!!!!

13 offspring, whew I do salute you! I hope you don't have a ding-A-ling doctor who tells you to exercise more or develop a hobby. Told one of my Aunt's to, she was a farm girl, did the chores when her husband worked his 2nd job, had 5 kids, managed to keep them all dressed at once and not playing in the roadway, and he thought she should divert herself with needlework? Had enough trouble keeping things patched, hems let down and faces washed. Get real, Dr Bozo, Get real!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
