Losing Weight in a Different Way

Recommended Posts

So I haven't lost much yet, 15lbs. since surgery + 20lbs. pre-surgery for a total of 35. 35 lbs. on a heavy person doesn't show much, but I'm short, so I do see a teensy change. What is weird is that I am losing in spots that are different than previous diets and weight loss attempts. I do see some difference in my neck, but not as much as usual (usually my face slims really fast, even after just 25lbs.) and yet, I see a noticeable difference in my calves. I have never, ever, ever seen even a slight difference in my calves, they always stay huge. This is very exciting to me! I carry almost all of my weight in my abdomen, so it will take a huge loss to notice anything there, but my waistband is a little looser. Have any of you noticed that you lost differently after WLS than you have in the past?

When was the last time you lost 15lbs in less than a month? LOLOLOL? Cuz um, I can say, nevs!!!

Congrats, you're doing great btw! And congrats on the 35lb total loss. You are well above the curve and are losing quickly.

And yes, it comes off differently for each of us than it did in the past. :)

Oh, I don't have any issues with my rate of loss, I think I'm losing at a fantastic rate, I'm really pleased. I just meant that I'm very early in the game and I have a lot to go. I am thrilled with my rate of loss though. Even with really hardcore diet and exercise in the past the most I ever managed was 10lbs. in a month, usually more like 7-8. This is fantastic!

Oh got it!! Derp! Sorry! Yeah, 10lbs would have been light speed for me pre-surg! LOL. But it does come off weirdly. And like this time around, my lower legs are getting so small-ish. I always had thunder thighs/legs!

I've also noticed that I've lost in different places. I'm about 20 pre-/20 post-surgery so far. I've lot most of my inches in my breasts/chest (not surprising), and a fair amount in my legs, which were by far the thinnest part of me. Almost none in my waist/hips - all my clothes still fit the same there (and sag like nuts in the legs). Plus, all my rings are now too big for my ring fingers, so I've had to move them to my middle finger. Still pleased with progress, just funny how its coming off.

I’ve lost pretty much everywhere but I wish I’d lose more in my belly😐

I have almost hit the 100lb lost mark. I still have weight to lose in my belly but everywhere else is skinny. It can be frustrating.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
