I've Regained...Looking For Support and to Support Others!

Recommended Posts

Hello to all! Searched today to find a site where I can remotivate myself to get started losing a LOT of regain, and here I am. A little about me: I am female and 51 years old. I had RNY 11/10. Lost a little over 200 pounds in under 2 years. Had multiple plastic surgeries, exercised almost daily - ran a few 5K's, lifted some weights, etc... Did far better than expected by my doctors. Then...a bleeding ulcer sidelined (and almost killed) me. Follow that with Baker's cysts in both knees - ruined my daily exercise for quite a while. As time went on, my eating habits caught up with me (exercise had helped with regain for a while, I am sure...). Now, I find myself up close to 100 pounds. My eating is not good, and the pain from the extra weight on my knees especially, is terrible. I've reverted to all of my unhealthy coping mechanisms (regarding eating), and my restriction and dumping mechanisms seem nonexistent. My beautiful post-loss wardrobe of size 12's and 14's sits in my closet...while I had to buy new size 2x's and 3x's for a job I just started. This has to stop! I need to turn myself around and get back to healthy eating and daily exercise. I'm spending the rest of 2018 psyching myself up, re-reading my WLS books, ridding my house of the terrible foods, and easing back in to exercise and healthy eating. In 2019 my big goal is to lose one hundred pounds and get back into being healthy and feeling good about myself again. Are you in a similar situation? Have regain and need some support? Please reply so we can get a group of people together who know the struggles and want to make changes!

Good Luck! You got this! I am just starting out but consider going back to basics and starting over with the liquid phases then progress through the different stages to get yourself back on track. I am only 2 weeks and 2 days post op so I do speak from experience, but from what I see others suggest in here.

I think you should be REALLY proud that you have come here. Really proud.

There are numerous folk who have had regain, and done a “reset to the beginning” to get that off again. You have done it once, so you KNOW you can make it work. And just like the first time, it is a nasty first month of having to change your eating impulses time after time after time - but it gets easier.

You’ll remember the joys of not snacking. Of finding new and delicious healthy food. And the highs of fitting back into those lovely clothes!

Even with crap knees, you can do seated weights and core strengthening - so get back to the gym!

YOU GOT THIS.

Hi! I am 2.5 years out and have gained 30 lbs back. I have to get this weight off so I am not considered a failure, because that is what I feel like!

Here's a great thread that deals with doing the head work, losing regain, getting and staying on track, head hunger, emotional eating, etc!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
