gastroparesis and possible band removal

Recommended Posts

was banded in 2012 never used it because port turned over..in 2015 band portal was supposedly fixed after going into hospital with extreme nausea and stomach discomfort..It is 2018 and went back to surgeon to find out if this band was the cause of my severe nausea...found out it flipped again..I never used this and think I have damage to VAGUS nerve GASTROPARESIS... WANT THIS REMOVED BUT AFRAID IT WILL DO MORE DAMAGE

A lot of us are in a similar situation. It seems that bands are causing damage that was not predicted when they became so popular and that they should not be left in place indefinitely.

I am scheduled to have mine removed and revise to RNY in Jan

This. I had severe problems as well and converting to MGB was the best decision ever. The recent gastroscopy showed that the lower esophagus seems to be well again - first time in years!!

Seems like I also have (again) a little hernia - though I personally don't think this has to do with the lap-band. Truckloads of people are running around with (undiagnosed) hernia who don't even know they have one.

Yep, band to mini-gastric bypass here. My band sprung a leak after the first fill and sadly never worked for me. Wish I'd revised years ago. Mind you it worked brilliantly for Bandedwendy on Youtube.

Me, too. However, I was afraid of the bypass surgery and years ago it was kind of complicated to get the revision (and no guarantee you'd get it at all!!).

Nowadays there are quite a few hospitals in Germany that perform revisions because of reflux without the patient having to get permission from insurance first!

Yes! I was scared of fiddling around with my anatomy as well. But nothing is as scary as facing morbid obesity in old age [emoji33]

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
