It depends on your insurance company. Although some states now are mandated by law to cover weight loss surgery, Florida is not one of those states.

If the company specifically states in their document of benefits that they exclude weight loss surgery, you cannot “get them to pay for it”. If you are not sure if the procedure is covered or not, call the number on the back of your card or read the statement of benefits.
