Today I got the last clearance that I need for my Dr to submit to my insurance company for approval. It just dawned on me then in a few days I will know if I will get the news that will help me get my life back. I have been pretty ok with the entire process....but NOW I'm getting a little nervous....well a LOT nervous (hee hee). I am not worried about the surgery itself. I am afraid of what my life will be like after. Fear of the unknown. I guess my biggest fear is that I will fail..and my weight will not come off like I expect it to. I have waited a very long time for this. I have worked hard, even managed to lose a few pounds on my own. I am just sooo nervous. I pray that this is approved and that all goes well after surgery!

Hopefully its all good news from hereon in.

Nerves are a natural part of the process as is fear of failure. Just know there will be ups and downs, stalls and times you will want to give your sleeve back. On the positive side, you will lose weight, you will regain your health, you will regain your shape. In conjuction with your doctor set reasonable and achievable goals, follow instructions for your pre op and post op diets they are there for a reason.

Good luck

Fear is so normal! Your mindset that you are afraid you are going to fail is a decent one, just make sure your will is greater than that fear. The success or failure is up to you, it will have moments where it'll be tough, but overall, it's so very worth it! I've traded a few issues for others, but I've got the better deal, My sleep apnea is reduced greatly, my plantars fasciitis is 100% gone, I haven't had knee pain in months, I can do so much more for so much longer now. I actually ran, like RAN at 5 mph for a full 5 mins straight, only had to stop because I didn't stretch out properly before hand... so I was cramping, I must have looked like a total fool just running and grinning a big ass cheesy smile... I ran, and loved it.

Don't be afraid of the changes, acknowledge they will be tough and tackle them one at a time. You've got a much better life waiting for you on the other side of that surgery, bust your ass for it... then enjoy the sheet out of it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
