Bariatric and Alcoholism....

Recommended Posts

The struggle is real. I just had my first 'slip' after 54 days of sobriety. Sucks.

I would recommend speaking to a psych about anti-depressants...specifically an SSRI. You have to play Russian Roulette a bit to find what works for your brain chemistry, but it's worth it. Made things a lot lot easier once I found the right combo. (low dose Celexa for me, but everyone is different)

Thank you- I am on meds and have a doctor. I haven’t really talked about it, because I’ve been in a bit of denial. Frankly, admitting I can’t get this under control is really scary.
I get now why they did psych. Evaluations before surgery. The cross addiction is real.

I am in this boat now also. 2 years of drinking has taken its toll on me, my marriage among other things. TBH I didnt want to quit until last weekend. I think I hit rock bottom and said enough is enough. I found an audio book called The Alcohol Experiment and began listening to it. It is a 30 day stop drinking approach and I am on day 2. The narrator makes so much sense and walks you through what you are going to face on this 30 day journey. I hope in 30 days I am better

Unfortunately, it's a life long problem. You can't ever be 'cured' of alcoholism. The only solution is to NEVER drink again. THat's a real tough notion for most of us.

Congratulations on acknowledging that you have a problem with alcohol and resize something is wrong. Are you interested in 12 steps? If not can you meet with your doctor? My husband and I stopped drinking a little over a year ago. It was very rough for him. I was never a big drinker and never drank beer, so me quitting in support of him was right to do. Do you have sober friends? We found out that hanging out with other sober peep and having fun while sober, retrained our brains so to speak to start to realize that we can have fun without alcohol.

If you need to talk, PM me.

Anyone who thinks they are above transfer addiction is delusional.

I have noticed I am spending too much on clothing lately. I need to keep an eye on it. It isn’t a problem yet but it could be...

I wish the best for all of you struggling with alcohol. Hugs!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
