How long after surgery before you returned to work?

I work from home, when I'm not traveling. Desk job of emails, spreadsheets and conference calls while at home.

I technically took no time off. I worked the morning before surgery and the next day both at the hospital and once I got home. I didn't travel for 2 weeks, and then at 3 weeks post op started work travel and have traveled nearly weekly since.

You are one tough cookie.

What is it that you do? I think I remember you mentioning trunk shows, so are you in the design/crafting industry?

I took three weeks off. I was planning on returning in one week but there was no way. I had zero energy and could only eat a thimble full of food. Don’t rush it. Take your time give your self time to adjust to this new lifestyle. Even after going back it took a while to get my energy back

I have a desk job and took 6 days off. I had trouble driving to and from work for a couple of weeks. I would feel dizzy and had severe motion sickness while driving. I wish I would have taken a couple of weeks off and not toughened it out.

I took 3. My job involves walking/standing for 3 hours in the morning and sporatically in the afternoon. I took 3 weeks off, 2.5 might have been enough--those last few days I was like COME ONNNN xD

I am an account manager, total desk job. I was curious how long others were off work due to their surgery.

I also have a desk job and had RYN. I had my surgery on a Wednesday so I took obviously the rest of that week off and the following week. I didn't have any issues returning when I did. You may feel tired and still may be sore but not to the point it will interrupt your day.

I had my sleeve last Tuesday and returned to work today (Monday). I am feeling fine and have lots of energy. My only problem has been drinking enough Water.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
