Revision from sleeve to bypass

Recommended Posts

if that is true and no reason to say it isn't Precious Pouch must not think I need any solids or purees. I hope her 7 week reign of terror ends Friday when they stretch my stoma!!!
Stretch your stomach?

Do you track your intake? I'm on myfitnesspal. I stopped tracking about 2.5 weeks before my surgery but will resume when I start eating solids.

No I don't track. I guess I should.

No my stoma, the opening between my pouch and the Jejunem, it has narrowed to the point it only lets liquids dribble through, no purees, no soft solids. At 7 weeks the run of the mill sleeved/ bypasser is solidly there, not moi! Been swilling down a very limited liquid diet, Protein count okay, taking in fluids, no clue to the amount of calories, taking Vitamins, minerals, Zofran, ulcer medicines, but a pee-poor recovery after a beautiful 2 week start. But it is fixable, tomorrow for the second time my surgeon's partner Dr Noria will try. Couldn't do it 2 weeks ago, I also have developed 5 ulcers in that area, at that time a bleeding risk, hopeful things are calmer band she can have success! Incidently you have a namesake, my son's cell phone's name is Eugene Throckmorton. See,all the phones in my house have names that way on the contact list you just think we have a lot of friends. And I know a branch of your family in Ohio, a semi-friend of my Aunt Grace, may she rest in peace, so my son and I chose that name, never thought I'd find another individual with the name.😝

I hate feeling nauseous. But my husband has family in Ohio brothers and sisters. How crazy is that?

Ready for my own Throckmorton story? I live in a smallish Ohio city, Mount Vernon, known for 3 things, Daniel Decatur Emmett, who wrote " Dixie", Paul Lynde the late actor, and population 20,000. My late Mama grew up near a small village, Centerburg, the Geographic Center of Ohio, population maybe. a thousand if you count people, dogs, cats, and the people in the cemetery. Downtown 2- 3 blocks at the most. Well I happen to. be walking along minding my own business, when up sails a highly dressed older woman. Proceeds to grill me about my relatives, Mama had 6 sinlings, my Daddy 10 or 12, depends on whether you count the uncle who committed suicide 30 years after shooting little sister with Grandpa's loaded squirrel rifle.
Well back to my story, How was uncle Merlin, How was my mama and finally How. is my dear friend Grace? Aunt Grace would have choked at THAT. Finally I had enough, I said sweetly "May I ask who wishes to be remembered to these members of my extended Family?. She drew herself to her considerable bulk and snapped out "Mrs Kenneth Throckmorton" Oh Genevieve, I am so sorry, I did not recognize you, it has been a while ,you know. "Well she says, You were Always a mouthy little Brat! Well excuse me, You Started this conversation , not me! Really sad when you consider she had been an Elementary School teacher for years. She must have, been H*** on Heels in the Classroom!

Lol. Well my husband said not Ohio but in Iowa is where most the family lives. But I'm sure there's a lot of Throckmortons everywhere.

I had the same issue as you. After 7 years with the sleeve, I wasn’t losing weight and lost only 20 something pounds. I developed GERD & had my bypass revision this past May. I am now the lowest I have ever been in my adult life and have about 35-40 more pounds to lose. I am almost 6 months post op and lost 82 pounds.

good luck to you!

I imagine THEY are a fertile bunch, and tell Dear Hubby he's still not off the relative/friend hook. I have relatives in Selma, Lamoni, Ottumwa, Des Moines and another place I never can remember over on the western border, all I can remember is Its where the Mormon Trail went through. If there are any Iowans monitoring they will know where I mean, don't hear much from that branch, they turned Mormon and don't speak to the Ohio Methodists.

Well he doesn't deny relatives he knows they are every where and doesn't doubt he has relatives that he's never met. [emoji6]

Kathy,

It will get better. I had gastric bypass 14 years ago. Everything I liked before surgery (eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese) I couldn't eat at all after surgery. Eventually the taste for it came back. Unfortunately 3 years ago my mom passed away and I've been gaining the weight back. I'm scheduled next month for a revision. I'm kinda nervous, my last surgery was in a different state and with a different surgeon. This surgeon is great, did my sister-in-law's sleeve. There are a lot more "rules" and steps than when I had it done the first time Hope all goes well. I'm missing out on too much with my children and grandchildren - time to get my life back!

Good to hear. What kind of revision? I thought the bypass was it?

Yes- i did! I had my revision friday and i feel freaking amazing!!! I’m wishing you all the best of luck.

I was in the same boat as you in the sense that i workout hard core religiously 5 days per week and i’m like the poster child in my local area for how to eat post op, but even i had severe reflux. Shit happens. It got to the point where i honestly didn’t even care if i drank sparkling Water because i ended up with reflux anyway by avoiding that.

So i did not have bypass, i had the one anastomosis bypass which is different. It’s rare and i’m actually literally the first person in my state to even have that done. So we’ll see how it compares, but so far i can say that it is definitely very very different from my sleeve.

You will be so much happier once the reflux goes away. All the best to you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
