CONGRATULATIONS ...This is 2 days after you posted so I am hoping all went well for you. I just finished my final nutrition class and all test and Appointments are done. Now just to get a surgery date. Even though I am very anxious in a good way to get this done, I tend to still have some questions in my head of, To Do or Not to Do... I want you to know I came across your post just as a question was in my head, but your Happy Face on a stretcher and a thumbs up was just what I needed.....Thank You for sharing and I hope to see you making nothing but PROGRESS in the coming days

And are you getting close to going home? And how is 5his day going for you?[emoji14]
Came home around 1:30 this afternoon. I will say I am feeling pain on my right side. They said I would for about a week. It's the side where most of the work was done and deepest stitches. Actually pretty painful getting in the standing position stretching it out. Other than that I'm great. Getting most of my liquids down and walking alot.

Glad my pic helped. I have absolutely no regrets doing this. Totally worth the discomfort. Good luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
