I wonder why i see everyone having to do clear diets and my livershrink diet has it where i can eat??? Dont understand

I asked my doctor about this and he didn’t think the long clear liquid diets did much past a certain time frame. I’m sure it has to do with each patient as well but in his office it’s 2-7 days of liquid. I started liquid today, tomorrow is bowel prep and meds to “sterilize” digestive tract, surgery the next morning.

Does everyone have to wash with the surgical Soup the day before and morning of surgery?

Surgery yesterday and doing better today. Last night sucked. Couldn’t sleep at all. I think I slept for an hour then no more then 5-10 minutes. Every time I’d fall asleep my o2 levels dropped and the alarm would jolt me awake. Barium swallow this morning showed no issues so reward is ice chips - so good after going 36 hours nothing to drink. Bring petroleum free chap stick! Life saver those hours. Good luck to future November bypassers!

I had my RNY on November 7th, 2018. I am trying my hardest to get all fluids I need. Has anyone found a good combo of bariatric Vitamins to get everything we need?

Alex8706 - I had my bypass surgery on November 5th and I’ve been able to get everything in since. I take the chocolate Celebrate 4 in 1. It combines all your Vitamins and Protein in one shake. It’s been good to have that in the beginning!

Just got home and so glad to be out of the hospital! Now the work begins. Already fighting food association. Really would like to have a couple of triscuits and cheddar cheese - my go to come home snack...

Also, one wls patient went code blue today. All is good, she just stopped breathing for a bit. Scary.

I am dying to add some sort of different flavor or texture to my diet. Tuesday is my 2 week post-op and I will (hopefully) finally be able to move on to phase 3, pureed diet!!

My wife just brought home some vegetable broth and the different flavor is welcoming. SF popsicles have been my go to bland buster but I can’t wait for stage 3 either.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
