November 2018 Sleevers!?!?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved November 12th...I have problems with Water intake. I only feel ok when I chew ice sprinkled with a Crystal Light half of it that is. My Doc has me on full liquid for 3 more weeks 😞. Do you all think it's ok to drink V8 right now? I appreciate feedback. Thanks!

Hello everyone!
I got sleeved on the 22nd so i’m 3 days post op. I am in a lot of pain - i hate it when people call it discomfort. it’s not discomfort, it’s pain!!! i can’t get up or lay down without help. i feel heavy while walking and i can’t lay down on my sides. please tell me this is normal and it goes away soon... i’m supposed to go back to work in a week and i don’t know if i will be well enough by then (i am a teacher), and i also can’t take more days off. Someone please reassure me.

I had my sleeve on the 22nd so 4 days post op. Did they give you pain killers? I find the pain comes and goes but the t3s help. I take 1 in the morning and 1 at night. You might need more for a while. I have been able to lay (carefully) on my side since in the hospital, I was told this was ok..but pain might hinder you there. I know in the hospital they were giving me 2 t3s or equivalent every 4 hours plus we were hydrated with the IV..I felt just fine..but at home it's been a different challenge for sure. Today I have been feeling a lot better do hopefully each day will get better for you as well. I'd work on the pain killers though.

They gave me very mild pain killers (paracetamol, really). it’s my first day at home, i got discharged last night. How is your pain level?
paracetamol is working but only slightly. I can’t feel the soreness of my incisions because the pain inside my stomach is overshadowing that. Do you know anything about sleeping on your stomach? i did that last night and it was significantly more comfortable than my sides, so i alternated between stomach and back the whole night. Are you getting all your liquids so far? please keep me updated. It’s fun to meet someone who’d been sleeved on the same day :D

Just rejoined up,with Spectrum for my cable, Netflix must have given them a MASSIVE KICKBACK, you can hardly change a channel without the screen nagging you " Hey would you like to,join Netflix?"

checking in to see how my 11/6 peeps r doing its been almost 3 weeks im down 24 pounds since the surgery and a total of 65 since June getting about 80-100 oz of Water in a day and about 90 grams of Protein in a day.. Still have no hunger feeling i just eat something when i figure i should, usually its a half a banana with some PB and maybe a couple spoons of re fried Beans later in the day its crazy how thats all I need now. cant wait to get these last 3 weeks of weight restrictions off so i can start playing with my 2 yea old and go to the gym for some workouts....i hope everyone had a good thanksgiving....

Hi fellow 6ther! I’m doing very well! My incisions are all healing perfectly, I’m pain-free (with the exception of occasional sharp pains when bending over), and I’ve had no complications thus far. No nausea, thank goodness! I’m tolerating puréed foods well, can never eat more than 3-4oz at a time, usually not that much. I am still drinking one Protein Shake a day to help get my Protein in. I can drink liquids normally now so have no issue staying hydrated. Like you, I rarely feel hungry and usually eat something just bc I know I am supposed to. Overall, I’m very pleased!

I was sleeved on the 13th and I feel so super dehydrated in the mornings.. so I drink all day, am getting about 50 oz in and feel great at the end of the day.. it seems to be a never ending cycle for sure.. but on the positive, I’ve lost 15 pounds since surgery, less than 2 weeks!

I think with your obvious pain level, something stronger makes more sense. I didn't have constant pain the first night and day at home but intermittent painful spasms. I get mild and shorter ones only on waking now. I don't sleep on my stomach at all so can't comment but I think with pillows and if you are comfortable?

I don't get all my liquids or protien in yet but am working on that daily. I'm doing the 30 min break on each end of the "solids" now so it's going to be even harder to get fluids up but I keep at it. I still find Water a bit painful at times, though even my shake was a bit painful this morning so I think it will be a slow day. But just keep at it and the routine will come! 🙂

Tomorrow is the day for me. I am super excited but really nervous. I'm afraid I'm going to forget to bring something, or forget to take my last med, or to drink the carb load, and somehow they are going to find a way to tell me that I can't have the surgery tomorrow. I couldn't do this liquid pre-op diet again!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
