Banana's Are Slider Food For Me

Recommended Posts

I've been hearing a lot of talk about slider foods since I joined this site, although posters have explained it I still really didn't fully comprehend it until I had a banana for a snack today. OMG who would have thought! I am 4 weeks post-op and can only eat about 2 oz of food at each meal, sometimes a little less so I was so surprised when I was down to the last bite of my banana and was thinking I pretty much ate the entire thing.

I'm actually glad that I experienced it for myself, now I know to be watchful of slider foods and Portion Control.

I'm loving my sleeve...

Thanks guys for making me aware :455_rosette::P

Hey friend! Glad you are doing well :)

All fruits are sliders for me. I don't know if it will be the same for you, but just wanted to give you a heads up!

Ugh. Banana's aren't a slider for me. I'm 9 months out and recently had one half of a large banana and was in so much pain. It was the most uncomfortable thing I have eaten since surgery. Granted I'm thinking I musta woofed it down. But definitely not a slider in my book.

I wonder if you could do a banana in a greek yogurt and Protein smoothie? Maybe the texture of a raw banana is too heavy by itself. Worth a shot if you want the added potassium and like the flavor. I know I did a half of a banana in my protein smoothie with some almonds for the longest time.

I choked earlier in the week on Greek yogurt, but each, day that Precious is older, maybe she will calm down, maybe with the liquidfication it will go well. Never had trouble with blueberry yogurt Muscle Milk, it is sure worth an aytempt!👍😪👍

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
